POVERTY IN USA

In the past we have been sold a bill of goods with terms such as "War on Poverty". Yet we can all see that we allow numerous poverty stricken people to invade the USA through our border with Mexico. Yet we have a vice grip like grip on stopping the poor who flee to our shores from Haiti. Race is one issue. It seems we prefer brown to black in America.
But beyond that is just why we allow anyone at all to immigrate. The answer is nut and bolt simple. Millions of jobs are misery. Millions of Americans are wage slaves who suffer poverty level pay checks as well as little or no hope of ever getting ahead. The awful truth is that we need poverty to force people into doing these wretched jobs. If everyone had plenty of money and buying power our system would collapse.
Now here is where the old yes-but line of excuses starts to flow. We are asked to believe that it is all alright and fair enough simply because there are so many people of low worth with such great needs that society can do nothing much to cure the issues at all.And it just happens that poverty actually generates more poverty in such a way that the poor are forced to keep taking care of those who have more money. In other words a great health care system would stop a lot of poverty. A great educational system would stop a lot of poverty. A really good welfare system would also stop a lot of poverty, crime alcoholism and drug addiction as well. So the reality is that the issues that our government supposedly wants to solve are exactly what they are determined to keep in place. If we took care of our poor people properly it is very likely that not only would our taxes be far lower but our government could be smaller and less intrusive as well.

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."
(Marcus Tullius Cicero, The great Roman Orator addressing the Senate)
