Central Florida Veterans for Peace Wants Obama Impeached

[Editor's Note: Needless to say, Obama is continuing and expanding upon many of the same abuses of power for which many of us worked hard and unsuccessfully to impeach Bush. Of course, Obama ought to be impeached as well, as some of us have said many, many times. But most of us are not making it a permanent top headline and organizing around it intensely enough to be recognized, for the obvious reason that if this filthy corrupt Democratic House won't impeach Bush, and the president they take their orders from won't prosecute Bush, if in fact neither will even touch fourth-level underlings, then impeachment of Obama is not going to happen anytime soon. Yet, things that appear impossible eventually happen because someone took the lead. Here's the Central Florida Vets for Peace:]

Our U.S. Military is currently, and has been since January 20, 2009, been committing with regularity war crimes under the command and authority of the current President Barack H. Obama. Our Central Florida chapter of Veterans For Peace has debated, voted on, and approved the following resolution calling for the Impeachment of President Barack H. Obama for those war crimes being committed under his command and authority ... the same war crimes that Veterans For Peace National identified in its March 19, 2005 call for the Impeachment of President George W. Bush.

Please make sure to examine Veterans For Peace's own "Impeachable Violations Documented" from the VFP National's website at http://www.veteransforpeace.org/File/pdf/violations_documented.pdf and the March 19, 2005 official release by VFP President David Cline entitled "Iraq War Merits Impeachment" at http://www.veteransforpeace.org/File/pdf/impeachment_flyer-bw.pdf. for clarification concerning the law and the crimes cited.

As for members of Veterans For Peace, other military veterans and active military we ask that you all carefully consider our Central Florida chapter's resolution to Impeach President Barack H. Obama for War Crimes (MS Word document attached to this email) in relation to the VFP documentation referenced above, our Veterans For Peace Statement of Purpose items (a) through (e), our Military Oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, as well as our organization's claim to be "non-partisan".

We ask that you all ... veterans and non-veterans alike ... to join us in our call for Impeachment on both an individual and organizational/chapter basis by endorsing our resolution in the space provided in the introduction and narrative section preceeding the resolution as shown below and in the attached MS Word document.

For those of you who publicly called for the Impeachment of President Bush for war crimes but will not endorse our call for the Impeachment of President Obama for similar war crimes being committed under his command and authority, we would very much appreciate you letting us know why you having had called for the Impeachment of Bush for war crimes but still to this day will not publicly call for the Impeachment of Obama for the same war crimes so that we can try to understand and adjust accordingly in our efforts to stop the war crimes currently being committed under the command and authority of our current President and Commander in Chief Barack H. Obama ... all the while being committed on our watch.

Thank you.

On July 7, 2009, the Central Florida chapter of Veterans For Peace (VFP Chapter 136) passed a resolution calling for the Impeachment of President Barack H. Obama for War Crimes.

We want to emphasize that our chapter’s call for the Impeachment of President Obama for war crimes is not based on whether or not Impeachment is likely to occur, but rather our call for Impeachment is based on what we as Veterans For Peace feel is our duty in the case where war crimes are being committed under the command and authority of any United States President.

President Obama is clearly responsible for war crimes knowingly being committed under his command since he assumed the Presidency on January 20th, 2009 and for which he since has had the ability and authority to not allow. Beginning on March 19th, 2005, VFP National had called for the Impeachment (now arrest and prosecution) of President Bush for the same war crimes in violation of U.S. and International Law, and we believe that Veterans For Peace must apply the same standard to any U.S. President, whether that president is Republican or Democrat, male of female, white or black.

The majority of us feel that calling for the Impeachment of President Obama for war crimes is our duty as a members of Veterans For Peace, consistent with the VFP statement of purpose to restrain our government from intervening, overtly or covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations, to seek justice for veterans and victims of war, to increase public awareness of the costs of war, and to abolish war as an instrument of national policy. We also feel the same sense of duty to call for the Impeachment of President Obama for war crimes as those who swore an oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic and simply as Americans who have a responsibility for what our President and servant government does in our name.

We encourage all veterans and non-veterans alike to join us in our call for the Impeachment of President Barack H. Obama for War Crimes by endorsing our resolution below. Thank you.

IMPEACHMENT OF PRESIDENT BARACK H. OBAMA FOR WAR CRIMES

Whereas Barack H. Obama is Commander In Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces and the head of the Executive Branch of the U.S. government; and,

Whereas the illegal U.S. invasion, bombing and occupation of Iraq initiated by the Bush administration continues under the Obama administration; and,

Whereas the U.S. government is currently engaged in illegal wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan and Obama has pledged to increase the number of military personnel and the amount of tax dollars spent on the wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan; and,

Whereas the U.S. military has used and continues to use depleted uranium munitions, cluster bombs and white phosphorous in densely populated areas in violation of U.S. and international laws and treaties prohibiting the indiscriminate killing of civilians; and,

Whereas the Geneva Conventions specifically prohibit the use of especially injurious weapons and materials that cause unnecessary harm by remaining active and deadly after a battle and over large areas of land; and,

Whereas a large number of babies born in Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from illness and deformity like Down’s syndrome, weak hearts, severe disfigurement and brain damage that doctors believe are caused by the U.S. military’s massive and widespread use of toxic and radioactive materials; and,

Whereas millions upon millions of Iraqi, Afghani and Pakistani civilians have been killed, maimed, poisoned and displaced from their homes as a direct result of the U.S.’s ongoing, illegal acts of war; and,

Whereas illegal, immoral and counterproductive detainee torture and brutalization at the hands of the U.S. military’s Immediate Reaction Force continue at Guantanamo under the Obama administration; and,

Whereas Obama is an accessory after the fact for obstructing justice by not initiating an investigation into numerous and blatant U.S. war crimes committed by the Bush administration for which it is manifestly accountable under the rule of law; and,

Whereas Veterans For Peace supported the impeachment of Bush/Cheney for the same war crimes that are now being committed by Obama in violation of the U.S. Constitution, U.S. federal laws, the United Nations Charter, the Hague Convention, the Geneva Conventions, The United Nations Convention Against Torture and the Nuremberg Tribunal Charter; and,

Whereas Veterans For Peace is committed to its stated mission to restrain our government from intervening, overtly or covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations, to seek justice for veterans and victims of war, to increase public awareness of the costs of war, and to abolish war as an instrument of national policy; and, therefore be it

Resolved that Veterans For Peace calls on the U.S. House of Representatives to immediately begin impeachment proceedings against Barack H. Obama for failure to uphold his sworn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America from all enemies foreign and domestic, and for his commission of war crimes, crimes against humanity, obstruction of justice and the violation of numerous national and international laws, treaties and conventions.

Note: This resolution to call for the Impeachment of President Barack H. Obama for War Crimes was debated, voted on, and approved by the members of the Central Florida chapter of Veterans For Peace on 7 July 2009.
