ACORN Rising Internationally

By jimstaro - Posted on 27 March 2011

We may have fallen rapidly behind many as to our once vibrant and envied economy, workforce, innovations, advancing forward and much more, we were envied for, but we still are leading or on par for much of the ideologies an ACORN and NGO type communities bring forth and spread to the World Communities. These are now probably the only really important thing's many don't now either hate us for or are turning their backs on us for the many other issues and policies!

To rise once more, hopefully bigger and better, here in the once known as United States of America, gone starting soon after 9/11!

ACORN International puts down roots in South Korea, Egypt

John McCusker, The Times-Picayune archiveWade Rathke

March 26, 2011 - ACORN is defunct, but ACORN International, a separate organization, is thriving, according to a message to supporters from Wade Rathke, founder of ACORN and chief organizer for ACORN International.

In his message, Rathke noted that ACORN International just added a new affiliate in South Korea, known as Asian Bridge, and that activists in Prague had begun an organization called ACORN Comrades Club, with which he is communicating via Skype from his home in New Orleans.

"And, perhaps even more thrilling, I have now heard from a number of activists involved in organizing in Cairo in the last several weeks. They are talking about developing a 'Peoples' Plan' for development in a number of the poorer areas in the wake of the democracy debate and want to connect with our efforts in doing a similar plan after Katrina in New Orleans," Rathke wrote. {continued}

What with all that is happening as to peoples uprisings, against regimes we and our allies readily supported, who knows what the coming future brings.

Egypt was a movement we fully supported, we knew about a few of the players within that peoples movement and we quickly met the younger players via the internet and other communications, despite our media outlets and more.

We don't have those types of contacts, as yet, as to Libya, Syria, Yemen and the others and because of that we're not following as close as we should and many are confused as to ours and others action in Libya and non actions in the others.

As to Libya we do know from previous reports and even some recent ones that some in that movement are not friendly towards the so called west and with our violent and destructive previous decade you can bet many of the others are the same. As one of the leaders of the Egyptian movement wrote early into:

"I wrote, 'Dear Western governments. You have been supporting the regime that was oppressing us for 30 years. Please don't get involved now. We don't need you.' " - Wael Ghonim 13 Feb. 2011

Organizations like ACORN, especially established and long running, are what others want, for they are no different then us, certainly not government interference nor support for their dictatorial regimes while looking the other way on the blatant corruption.

I'm not fond of the actions like what we and NATO have undertaken in Libya, once the so called republican party were screaming against our military being the police of the world, but neither am I fond of outright carnage within a country and one using all it's western bought artillery and bombs against it's own people. I understand the ideals of the other countries getting involved, it's what comes next is the big question as to better or possibly worse. Look what happened in Afghanistan when we walked away from there, once again, to invade an innocent country and people!
