I Demand Accountability for War Crimes

Since its founding three years ago, High Road for Human Rights (www.highroadforhumanrights.org) has vigorously advocated for the restoration of the rule of law in the U.S. – for an end to torture, an end to felonious surveillance of U.S. citizens, accountability for illegal conduct by administration officials, and a commitment to a constitutional balance of power, where the courts once again provide a check on abuses of power by the other branches of government.

The Demand for the Restoration of Rule of Law and Accountability for War Crimes is addressed to President Barack Obama, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, the U.S. Congress, the United Nations, all other international bodies committed to the rule of law and preventing aggressive wars, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, and the nations of the world. The signatories to the Demand urge those to whom it is addressed to take all necessary steps to restore the rule of law, to hold perpetrators of crimes against peace and war crimes accountable, and to deter similar illegal conduct in the future. Hundreds of people have already added their names to the Demand. Our goal is to present the Demand with the names of at least 10,000 people, which will be a powerful signal that people in the U.S. still believe in the rule of law, the Nuremberg Principles, the United Nations Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the commitments of the U.S. under international treaties and domestic law.
