Middle Eastern and North African Diaspora Rally to Demonstrate Solidarity with All Pro-Democracy and Human Rights Movements across the Middle East and North Africa
(WASHINGTON DC, 04/23/11) – Hundreds of members of the Middle Eastern and North African diapora and human rights activists will rally to support the efforts of pro-democracy movements across the Middle East and North Africa.

The Middle Eastern and North African Diaspora Coalition (MENA DC): “The uprising across the Middle East and North Africa serve as a reminder to everyone that although the contexts differ the overarching issues are the same: citizens of the Middle East and North Africa are faced with some of the most brutal, discriminatory, and tyrannical regimes that exist in the world today. These events have also demonstrated that the Middle East and North Africa is comprised of some of the most inspiring, brave, resilient, and courageous people. By projecting the unity and connectivity of the MENA diaspora, we hope to amplify the commonality of the struggle for Human Rights as well as the aspirations for freedom and democracy throughout the Middle East and North Africa.”

The Middle Eastern and North African Diaspora Coalition (MENA DC) is an independent, grassroots coalition comprised of individual activists and diaspora-based activist organizations. Its mission is to create a functional coalition that unites independent grassroots activists and organizations actively supporting pro-democracy and human rights movements across MENA. Our belief is that all people deserve to live under democratic systems that respect human rights, as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights charter.
