Video: Marvin “Doc” Cheatham on the 2013 March on Washington

By BillyClub - Posted on 14 August 2013

On Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013, at the New Shiloh Baptist Church in West Baltimore, I discussed the upcoming “March on Washington,” with long-time advocate for social justice, Marvin “Doc” Cheatham. The demonstration is set for Saturday, August, 24th, on the National Mall, in Washington, D.C. The National Action Network (NAN) is the principal organizer of the rally. The Rev. Al Sharpton is its national president. NAN’s local chapter under the leadership of popular radio host and ex-Maryland State Senator Larry Young is strongly pushing for mass participation in the event to “realize the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King.” In addition, a wide coalition of nationally-based Civil Rights, Peace & Justice groups, Labor organizations and Gay & Lesbian advocates, among others, are supporting this important demonstration as part of the ongoing struggle for justice in this country. Doc Cheatham urged the community not to miss this event which is “celebrating and commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.”
