Video: Ryan Clayton on Separation of Wealth and State

By BillyClub - Posted on 23 October 2013

On Wednesday evening, October 23rd, Ryan Clayton, Executive Director of “Wolf Pac,” spoke at a public meeting spotlighting the issue of “separation of wealth and state” in our country’s electoral system. As a result of a recent bizarre U.S. Supreme Court decision (k/a “Citizens United”), “corporate personhood” was legalized. This has opened a floodgate allowing tons of corporate money to roll into the political arena. In effect, the Court said “money is speech.” Bottom line: Big Fat Cat donors, like the Koch Brothers, can now make mega-donations to the U.S. Congress, and at the local and state levels, too, and hide behind a huge wall of secrecy. Mr. Clayton, and others, are looking to get a Constitutional Amendment passed to overturn the court’s decision. This will be a herculean task. To learn more about this issue, go to “Get Money Out - Maryland," and “Wolf Pac." Activist Charlie Cooper moderated the event. It was held in the Peabody conference room of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, in Baltimore.
