Democrats Need to Believe in Righteousness
Republicans believe in good and evil. They know they are doing evil and that's why they refuse to honestly investigate anything. Nancy Pelosi, the presumptive leader of the Democrats, has said that Democrats should NOT pursue impeachment. But she's missing the point. The Republicans KNOW they have been doing evil. The Democrats seem to think good and evil are secondary to polls, popular opinion, and political strategy.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Democrats need to believe in righteousness. They need to put their faith in it. Not as some wishy-washy post-modern concept of cultural prejudice, but as something which exists a priori in the universe, as part of the foundation of life itself. They need to start using the "E" word to describe the behavior of Republicans, if not the party itself. I do it all the time: Republicans are evil. Some people think I'm using it as political rhetoric and they might be right, but the point is that it's TRUE! It's not just my opinion which will change with the winds of time ... it's the persistent TRUTH of the matter. Republicans are evil because they DO evil.
The Republicans conspired as a political organization to take this country to war on a bed of lies and deceit for the purpose of capital conquest. That's the truth. That's evil. It isn't going to change regardless of how the popular opinion of the war changes. Aggressive warfare is always wrong. It's evil. So is refusing to investigate all the crimes of the Bush administration. The majority of Americans may have supported Bush and the Evil Republicans in these actions, but they are evil too! It's all US! We are the problem. We are the solution. We need to change our mind. The path to justice is paved with the truth. If we want justice we must SEEK THE TRUTH. That means investigations. That means impeachment. This is the path to righteousness.
It's more than just getting a spine and standing up to the evil republicans. It's about believing in good and evil as more than just whimsical concepts. That's what the Republicans believe already. They know there is truth and righteousness which transcends opinion and they want the liberals to acknowledge it. So do so. Stop playing games with the truth. There is a truth which is greater than anyone's opinion, including mine! Respect it. Seek it. The truth will set us free from this evil spell the Republicans have cast upon us.
I want the Republican party to go away ... forever. Never vote Republican. Tell the truth ... over and over and over again ... until it yields good results. Have faith in truth and righteousness to set us free.
