In January 2004, the American Friends Service Committee unveiled Eyes Wide Open in Chicago's Federal Plaza with 504 pairs of boots, each tagged with the name, rank, age and home state of a fallen soldier or Marine. With each passing week, each stop in a new city, more pairs of boots are added to represent the newly fallen. This Memorial Day weekend, the exhibit returns to Chicago, the city where it all started.
