Address by Mayor Ross C. “Rocky” Anderson on October 27, 2007
Salt Lake City, Utah --
Today, as we come together once again in this great city, we raise our voices in unison to say to President Bush, to Vice President Cheney, to other members of the Bush Administration (past and present), to a majority of Congress, including Utah’s entire congressional delegation, and to much of the mainstream media: “You have failed us miserably and we won’t take it any more.”
“While we had every reason to expect far more of you, you have been pompous, greedy, cruel, and incompetent as you have led this great nation to a moral, military, and national security abyss.”
“You have breached trust with the American people in the most egregious ways. You have utterly failed in the performance of your jobs. You have undermined our Constitution, permitted the violation of the most fundamental treaty obligations, and betrayed the rule of law.”
“You have engaged in, or permitted, heinous human rights abuses of the sort never before countenanced in our nation’s history as a matter of official policy. You have sent American men and women to kill and be killed on the basis of lies, on the basis of shifting justifications, without competent leadership, and without even a coherent plan for this monumental blunder.”
“We are here to tell you: We won’t take it any more!”
“You have acted in direct contravention of values that we, as Americans who love our country, hold dear. You have deceived us in the most cynical, outrageous ways. You have undermined, or allowed the undermining of, our constitutional system of checks and balances among the three presumed co-equal branches of government. You have helped lead our nation to the brink of fascism, of a dictatorship contemptuous of our nation’s treaty obligations, federal statutory law, our Constitution, and the rule of law.”
“Because of you, and because of your jingoistic false ‘patriotism,’ our world is far more dangerous, our nation is far more despised, and the threat of terrorism is far greater than ever before.
It has been absolutely astounding how you have committed the most horrendous acts, causing such needless tragedy in the lives of millions of people, yet you wear your so-called religion on your sleeves, asserting your God-is-on-my-side nonsense – when what you have done flies in the face of any religious or humanitarian tradition. Your hypocrisy is mind-boggling – and disgraceful. What part of “Thou shalt not kill” do you not understand? What part of the “Golden rule” do you not understand? What part of “be honest,” “be responsible,” and “be accountable” don’t you understand? What part of “Blessed are the peacekeepers” do you not understand?
Because of you, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, many thousands of people have suffered horrendous lifetime injuries, and millions have been run off from their homes. For the sake of our nation, for the sake of our children, and for the sake of our brothers and sisters around the world, we are morally compelled to say, as loudly as we can, ‘We won’t take it any more!’ ”
“As United States agents kidnap, disappear, and torture human beings around the world, you justify, you deceive, and you cover up. We find what you have done to men, women and children, and to the good name and reputation of the United States, so appalling, so unconscionable, and so outrageous as to compel us to call upon you to step aside and allow other men and women who are competent, true to our nation’s values, and with high moral principles to stand in your places – for the good of our nation, for the good of our children, and for the good of our world.”
In the case of the President and Vice President, this means impeachment and removal from office, without any further delay from a complacent, complicit Congress, the Democratic majority of which cares more about political gain in 2008 than it does about the vindication of our Constitution, the rule of law, and democratic accountability.
It means the election of people as President and Vice President who, unlike most of the presidential candidates from both major parties, have not aided and abetted in the perpetration of the illegal, tragic, devastating invasion and occupation of Iraq. And it means the election of people as President and Vice President who will commit to return our nation to the moral and strategic imperative of refraining from torturing human beings.
In the case of the majority of Congress, it means electing people who are diligent enough to learn the facts, including reading available National Intelligence Estimates, before voting to go to war. It means electing to Congress men and women who will jealously guard Congress’s sole prerogative to declare war. It means electing to Congress men and women who will not submit like vapid lap dogs to presidential requests for blank checks to engage in so-called preemptive wars, for legislation permitting warrantless wiretapping of communications involving US citizens, and for dangerous, irresponsible, saber-rattling legislation like the recent Kyl-Lieberman amendment.
We must avoid the trap of focusing the blame solely upon President Bush and Vice-President Cheney. This is not just about a few people who have wronged our country – and the world. They were enabled by members of both parties in Congress, they were enabled by the pathetic mainstream news media, and, ultimately, they have been enabled by the American people – 40% of whom are so ill-informed they still think Iraq was behind the 9/11 attacks – a people who know and care more about baseball statistics and which drunken starlets are wearing underwear than they know and care about the atrocities being committed every single day in our name by a government for which we need to take responsibility.
As loyal Americans, without regard to political partisanship -- as veterans, as teachers, as religious leaders, as working men and women, as students, as professionals, as businesspeople, as public servants, as retirees, as people of all ages, races, ethnic origins, sexual orientations, and faiths -- we are here to say to the Bush administration, to the majority of Congress, and to the mainstream media: “You have violated your solemn responsibilities. You have undermined our democracy, spat upon our Constitution, and engaged in outrageous, despicable acts. You have brought our nation to a point of immorality, inhumanity, and illegality of immense, tragic, unprecedented proportions.”
“But we will live up to our responsibilities as citizens, as brothers and sisters of those who have suffered as a result of the imperial bullying of the United States government, and as moral actors who must take a stand: And we will, and must, mean it when we say ‘We won’t take it any more.’”
If we want principled, courageous elected officials, we need to be principled, courageous, and tenacious ourselves. History has demonstrated that our elected officials are not the leaders – the leadership has to come from us. If we don’t insist, if we don’t persist, then we are not living up to our responsibilities as citizens in a democracy – and our responsibilities as moral human beings. If we remain silent, we signal to Congress and the Bush administration – and to candidates running for office – and to the world – that we support the status quo.
Silence is complicity. Only by standing up for what’s right and never letting down can we say we are doing our part.
Our government, on the basis of a campaign we now know was entirely fraudulent, attacked and militarily occupied a nation that posed no danger to the United States. Our government, acting in our name, has caused immense, unjustified death and destruction.
It all started five years ago, yet where have we, the American people, been? At this point, we are responsible. We get together once in a while at demonstrations and complain about Bush and Cheney, about Congress, and about the pathetic news media. We point fingers and yell a lot. Then most people politely go away until another demonstration a few months later.
How many people can honestly say they have spent as much time learning about and opposing the outrages of the Bush administration as they have spent watching sports or mindless television programs during the past five years? Escapist, time-sapping sports and insipid entertainment have indeed become the opiate of the masses.
Why is this country so sound asleep? Why do we abide what is happening to our nation, to our Constitution, to the cause of peace and international law and order? Why are we not doing all in our power to put an end to this madness?
We should be in the streets regularly and students should be raising hell on our campuses. We should be making it clear in every way possible that apologies or convoluted, disingenuous explanations just don’t cut it when presidential candidates and so many others voted to authorize George Bush and his neo-con buddies to send American men and women to attack and occupy Iraq.
Let’s awaken, and wake up the country by committing here and now to do all each of us can to take our nation back. Let them hear us across the country, as we ask others to join us: “We won’t take it any more!”
I implore you: Draw a line. Figure out exactly where your own moral breaking point is. How much will you put up with before you say “No more” and mean it?
I have drawn my line as a matter of simple personal morality: I cannot, and will not, support any candidate who has voted to fund the atrocities in Iraq. I cannot, and will not, support any candidate who will not commit to remove all US troops, as soon as possible, from Iraq. I cannot, and will not, support any candidate who has supported legislation that takes us one step closer to attacking Iran. I cannot, and will not, support any candidate who has not fought to stop the kidnapping, disappearances, and torture being carried on in our name.
If we expect our nation’s elected officials to take us seriously, let us send a powerful message they cannot misunderstand. Let them know we really do have our moral breaking point. Let them know we have drawn a bright line. Let them know they cannot take our support for granted – that, regardless of their party and regardless of other political considerations, they will not have our support if they cannot provide, and have not provided, principled leadership.
The people of this nation may have been far too quiet for five years, but let us pledge that we won’t let it go on one more day – that we will do all we can to put an end to the illegalities, the moral degradation, and the disintegration of our nation’s reputation in the world.
Let us be unified in drawing the line – in declaring that we do have a moral breaking point. Let us insist, together, in supporting our troops and in gratitude for the freedoms for which our veterans gave so much, that we bring our troops home from Iraq, that we return our government to a constitutional democracy, and that we commit to honoring the fundamental principles of human rights.
In defense of our country, in defense of our Constitution, in defense of our shared values as Americans – and as moral human beings – we declare today that we will fight in every way possible to stop the insanity, stop the continued military occupation of Iraq, and stop the moral depravity reflected by the kidnapping, disappearing, and torture of people around the world.

Paul will return to the gold standard and the constitution, kucinich maybe for the constitution, but he does not hold a candle to paul.
Here's the website at.

The People be damned, but capitalists will have all the non-taxed GOLD standard issued dollars!
No thank you.
I agree the UN must go, but for different reasons.
The UN is held hostage in NY, and cannot function properly as an independent International organization. US intelligence, Neocon Likudniks, & the Israel lobby crawl all over it and manipulate it in the same way as they do the Senate and the Congress. It's all dirt-files and 'compromise'!
Earth can never have a properly functioning UN until it's reformed and independent. It may be salutory for the US and Israel to be expelled, beyond the pale, until such times as they can abide by international law & give up their war criminals for prosecution.

Why Ron Paul Voted to Table the 'Impeachment Vote'
Posted November 10th, 2007 by Texas Little El
This comes from http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/docum...
I said in a previous post that Rep. Paul had a firm reason to table the vote from Mr. Cheney's impeachment.
We admire this candidate for his honesty and voting record and as much as we want to see Vice President Cheney removed from office, we need to follow the Constitutional procedures that are laid out for doing so.
Mr. Speaker, I rise, reluctantly, in favor of the motion to table House Resolution 799, Impeaching Richard B. Cheney, Vice President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors, and in favor of referring that resolution to the House Judiciary Committee for full consideration. I voted to table this resolution not because I do not share the gentleman from Ohio's desire to hold those responsible for the Iraqi debacle accountable; but rather, because I strongly believe that we must follow established protocol in matters of such importance. During my entire time in Congress, I have been outspoken in my opposition to war with Iraq and Iran. I have warned my colleagues and the administration against marching toward war in numerous speeches over the years, and I have voted against every appropriation to continue the war on Iraq.
I have always been strongly in favor of vigorous congressional oversight of the executive branch, and I have lamented our abrogation of these Constitutional obligations in recent times. I do believe, however, that this legislation should proceed through the House of Representatives following regular order, which would require investigation and hearings in the House Judiciary Committee before the resolution proceeds to the floor for a vote. This time-tested manner of moving impeachment legislation may slow the process, but in the long run it preserves liberty by ensuring that the House thoroughly deliberates on such weighty matters. In past impeachments of high officials, including those of Presidents Nixon and Clinton, the legislation had always gone through the proper committee with full investigation and accompanying committee report.
I noted with some dismay that many of my colleagues who have long supported the war changed their vote to oppose tabling the motion for purely political reasons. That move was a disrespectful to the Constitutional function of this body and I could not support such actions with my vote.
I was pleased that the House did vote in favor of sending this legislation to the Judiciary Committee, which essentially directs the committee to examine the issue more closely than it has done to this point.

QUESTION: On Motion to Table
BILL TITLE: A resolution raising a question of the privileges of the House.
I see nothing in the title of this bill that would imply an attempt to impeach anyone. It has been my experience that when I think I disagree with Ron it is because I haven't done enough research.
Mike in Missouri
"yes you can go round in circles that this right to choose is before conception...no I am not going there"
Why not? Isn't that where it REALLY starts?
and then lead them down the garden path. His concern is not about protecting Life, but about who has the authority to end it . :(
Beautiful speech. It seems so incredible to hear such sanity come from an elected official when we are constantly bombarded by lies and half-truths by government and media. Reading this speech, I was just waiting for him to mention Ron Paul because the president he described was Ron Paul to a 't'. The mainstream media has been trying to label him as a long shot that has no chance, but his support is growing exponentially and on Nov. 5, he broke the record for most donations in one day by a republican for primary elections: 4.2 million! We've got one shot, we've all got to do what we can to elect this hero!
And yet Ron Paul voted against SCHIP. He is against a woman's right to choose.
He is against the Federal government being in the business of deciding the issue.
While he is personally against abortion, he believes it is up to the community in which you live (ie. the states).
How much more of a choice can you ask for?
So the argument isn't choice vs life but which level of government gets to make the decision?
I thought Paul was a libertarian...
Paul is the only Republican candidate who opposes the war, and the expansion of the war. He's also a personable man of obvious integrity. Once we get beyond that, he's a total horrorshow. Nice guy but I wouldn't vote for him in a million years.
The argument should never have been federal versus state. The federal versus state framework was there for all to see but the Supreme Court routinely involves itself in state matters like Roe, Plyler and dozens of other cases.
The people of any state have the right to extend the definition of crime to cover violence against viable human pre-borns, fetuses and even embryos. The Supreme Court has nullified that right. Personally I think embryonic abortion on demand should be legal and safe.
Dr. Paul was not a 100% libertarian, even when he was a Libertarian. This is not unusual for any member of any political party.
As for horrorshows, I give you the nanny state with everything from federal drinking age restrictions to the IRS to No Child Left Behind to the ever-exanding Medicare debacle we cannot afford.

This is one person that is speaking the truth here.
and if you don't like him, that's just too bad.
Actually, he said that he was present at an abortion in some late stadium and they killed quite a living baby. And that he wants to stop it and give states the authority to prohibit it. If you ask 10 people about the last date when abortion would be allowed, you get 10 different answers. Don't you think, it is better to let people decide in the states?
Why wouldn't you vote for him? Who is better?
There has been some confusion on Dr. Paul's stance. He is Pro-Life. As an OB-GYN I can respect view. I think calling him a horrorshow is too extreme though. If your a democrat in Utah, consider changing to a republican and voting for Dr. Paul in the primaries. Since the democratic one is open to all, you can still vote for (God Forbid) Hillary or whoever. But lets help get both parties to elect an anti-war canidate.
When Ron Paul ran for president two decades ago on the Libertarian ticket, I had the privilege to discuss with him the right to choose. Paul personally opposes abortion, however he realizes that the right to choose is essential to our basic freedoms.
To draw a parallel, I personally oppose heroin and cocaine. However, I recognize any individual's right to put these poisons in his body.
The basic foundation of freedom is to endorse any person's right to make any personal choice, however unwise, as long as it does not harm anyone else.
Winefreak
So you would place a supposed threat to a woman's right to choose over the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis & Iranians, over the lives of US soldiers and over the further damage to the reputation of the US? Whether you vote Republican (neo-con) or Democrat, that's the choice.
After all and as Anderson mentioned, you've already tacitly accepted the erosion of your rights under the auspices of the Patriot Act, so why would you have a problem with 'a woman's right to choose'?
"So you would place a supposed threat to a woman's right to choose over the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis & Iranians, over the lives of US soldiers and over the further damage to the reputation of the US? Whether you vote Republican (neo-con) or Democrat, that's the choice."
This is the most incredible thing of all. Apparently, people are ready to sacrifice sound economy, foreign policy and civil liberties for an issue that has not right answer (I am pro-choice personally, however, the importance of this issue is blown out of every proportion).
What's so great about punishing tobacco addicts to provide health care for everybody's kids? How about taxing people with kids to provide health care for kids??? What happens when people stop smoking? More ads to encourage smoking "for the children"????
You're misinformed or mislead. He is not against a woman's right to choose. Better do some more in depth study. He's against the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IMPOSING on your individual rights. Quit looking to the Fed to solve your problems. All they do is trample on your rights.
Rocky has endorsed Bill Richardson. Check out his position on Iraq, Iran and the Mukasey confirmation.
This link will give you an idea of who Bill Richardson is.
www.huffingtonpost.com/gov-bill-richardson/a-devastating-failure_b_71969...
So glad that Rocky Anderson has had the sense to endorse Bill Richardson. How I wish Ohio's governor would do the same!
Richardson has the ideas, credentials and experience to lead us in a new direction. His congressional and diplomatic background are impressive, and he hasn't done badly as governor of New Mexico, either!
I agree that candidates who have implicitly or openly supported our presence in Iraq have no place in the White House.
I hear an angry Mayor. He should be angry. The rights and freedoms, of which he speaks, have been neatly sliced out from under the American people while they slept before the television and, indeed, he has pointed out the right culprits. But those freedoms are now gone and they will not be restored by the asking. They must be taken back in the same way they were when they were originally taken. The right to bare arms, granted under the fifth amendment of the American constitution, was made for just this occasion after a convincing argument by John Francis Mercer, a non-signing member of the Constitutional Convention and published in the Maryland Gazette in 1788. In this essay he foresaw deterioration into exactly this situation as the result of representative democracy. The United States of America will probably be a corporate dictatorship in another five years and it will be handed away by the people of America in much the same way as Germany was handed to Hitler. Is there fire enough in the belly of the American people to prevent this? I think not.
I agree with your claim that freedom must be taken, not asked for.
What are you doing to take it back? Until now, I never participated in a presidential campaign. I became involved because for the first time in my 53 years, there is truly a candidate who has quietly and patiently over a period of 20 years, built a record of honesty and integrity. He has earned my trust unlike any other politician.
I do something everyday to get his message to the people. I refuse to sit on the sidelines anymore. Congressman Ron Paul is our last best hope for true Freedom, Peace and Prosperity. This is our last chance to take back our country. Are you going to be a part of this effort?
Years from now, I will be able to look at my grand children and say I did something to change this country. Will you?
I get tears in my eyes to think that so very few seem aware of the covert changes being made to our Nation. We truly do not have Freedom of the Press and this is absolutely necessary in order for us to maintain a healthy Constitutional Republic. If you stand in front of a Walmart or Sams club and randomly ask people about the Texas Corridor, Cintra and the legislations passed within the last year it seems that no one knows what is taking place. Task Forces around our country transforming our health system, commerce, transportation etc., while almost 90% of Americans have no clue whatsoever of the TRUE meaning of what all these events will be leading us into. We just may have to start to pray daily for God to help us. http://theusrepublic.wordpress.com
We are encouraging Rocky to move to CA and run for Dianne Feinstein's senate seat! PLLLLEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEEE Mayor Rocky!!!
"I will not vote for or support any candidate for Congress or President who does not make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and preventing any future war of aggression, a public position in his or her campaign."
http://www.votersforpeace.us/
Yes , Yes Yes I am so sick of what Diane Feinstein had become. Wouldn't it be great to have someone like Rocky in her spot. (In spite of the nickname)
Why do the parasites in power of the U.S. continue to murder for money and call it "War"? Because we havn't stopped them yet.
I agree with everything this message states, with the exception that this has been going on a lot longer that just the last 5 years. I might add that the financial crisis we are seeing is another product of this mess. The greed and lust for power and wealth is sickening when so many of our citizens are living well below the poverty level, with no end in sight.
Great speech, Mayor Anderson, but to endorse anyone but Dr. Ron Paul for president in 2008 will not get the job done of returning America to its roots of Constitutional government. All presidential candidates on both parties are controlled by the New World Order hierarchy of ZIONISTS who want us goyim all dead, expect for Ron Paul. He understands the big picture as do the thousands of men and woman across our country who are flooding to the truth and taking up Ron Paul signs and banners and showing America that they "have had enough!"
Thousands of websites dedicated to awakening the slumbering and controlled Americans are now on line. www.conspiratology.com is but one of them telling the real truth of how we have been so carefully enslaved. Getting Ron Paul elected and un-electing the traitors in Congress who have in the past and who are now enacting laws such as the Home Land (in)Security which so totally enslave us is our only hope of climbing out from behind the walls of the prison planet that we are now in.
To Mayor Anderson and all those Americans who "have had eneough" get yourselves out of your comfort zone and get Congressman Dr. Ron Paul elected!!!! www.ronpaul2008.com

Because I consider Ron Paul the only candidate worthy of being elected President, I suggest a very simple, and effective way, for all people to say "they are not going to take it anymore", in addition to helping fund his campaign.
To all Ron Paul supporters, and to all other people who agree with
Mayor Anderson:
Fly the American flag upside down until Ron Paul is elected President.
Mayor 'Rocky' Anderson,
As a concerned citizen of this Republic I applaud you, your courage, and your integrity. This unfortunate state of affairs has been going on much longer than 5yrs so we do have our work cut out for us. Have you seen Aaron Russo's documentary 'America from Freedom to Fascism' yet? Go to www.freedomtofascism.com very import information on the Federal Reserve and it's disregard for the U.S. Constitution. Keep speaking out! We need your leadership. We must remember; only Love exists in the Universe, everything else is the illusion. Do this with Love, keep love in your heart. Fighting is old paradigm and will only create more fighting and opposition.

Powerful speech, clearing pointing to Kucinich's values.
I heard someone say Ron Paul is the man. Well, maybe, except that I disagree with him about:
Immigration
Taxes
Stem-Cell Research
Health Care
Abortion
Social Security
Energy
And Richardson? We disagree about:
Line-Item Veto
Energy
Death Penalty
These helpful details come from the Select a Candidate survey at http://www.wqad.com/Global/link.asp?L=259460
I recommend everyone google around and take a few of these surveys to get a sense of which candidates most closely align with your values.
Anderson calls for impeachment. Kucinich moves a resolution for Impeachment on the floor of the House - where the democratic leadership moved to send it back to committee - despite the fact that the republicans were ready to debate the issue.
Especially during primary and caucus season, I am voting my values by supporting Dennis Kucinich.
So what does it mean to say "I'm not going to take it anymore."? Vote your values.
Jo Walter
I took "wgad survey" five times. Every time I took it I came up with five different candidates. For me, my values are my survey. Ron Paul has my heart for he is the only candidate that speaks the truth. I do not agree with him on everything but his honesty is worth a lot. At least, to me. Follow your heart, not American media.
Rich.
Anyone who does not agree with Dr. Paul's positions, doesn't agree with the Constitution of the United States. EVERYTHING Dr. Paul stands for is based on his strict adherence to that document.
This country has lost it's way because our (s)elected leaders no longer abide by their oath to uphold the Constitution.
Jo, you go right ahead and vote for your socialist "personal values", I am going to vote for returning to our roots, which will, in fact, over time, solve the problems of America.
Stop being a good Rebuplican.
Stop being a good Democrat.
Start being a good American.
I could not agree more. This man has said in a clear, crisp, concise and MORAL way what I have been feeling and trying to say since the stolen 2000 election. Even as an ex-pat in Mexico since 2004 (deja vu) I have fought as media contact for DemsAbroad in Mexico and worked my fanny off to help get people registered for their absentee ballots to get more Dems back in Congress. To say I am disappointed in them is a huge understatement and I have so told them. I write them on a regular basis, I sign all petitions I agree with, I forward them, I beg, I plead; but still the apathy "Rocky" speaks to. This infuriates me! I think you are abdicating your responsibility as a human being on this planet if you do not speak up and take action!
And don't forget the sickening war profiteering which is draining our Treasury and all the many many many scandals of this cabal. And the raging incompetence. The Republican Reps in Alaska had the arrogance and disdain for their constituents and our Constitution to have hats embroidered with CBC for "Corrupt Bastards Club" as they sold out to oil lobbyists right and left. And these "people" have the nerve to call themselves the "Values Party" the "moral" ones. I could puke.
And who in hell are William Kristol, Podhodertz, Wolfowitz, et al to be setting foreign policy for our nation? I did not vote for them and they are all ideologues and neocons. No one is being held accountable!
Sadly I could go on and on - but it makes me weep so I can't see the screen or keyboard. Our poor lost country. We once were so great until it became all about money and nothing at all about morals or ethics or real values or compassion.
BushCo could not have done more damage to our country were they foreign agents themselves. The only way to stop a bully is to STAND UP AND SHOUT "We won't take it any more!"
What was the occasion for this speech?
Who was he speaking to?
Did it get in the press? If so, where?
Please let me know ASAP. We can get it alot of play among those working on these issues at very high levels. I never saw this in the NYT, LAT, etc.
Thanks

And you won't. The media is not free speech and investigative reporting anymore. If you want real news look at free market news on the web. I am going to disconnect my cable TV. It's much more beneficial to be informed by real news from real people, not from spoonfed European owned corporations that market only what they want you to see and buy.
It's appauling to be called a terrorist by Glen Beck on CNN because I support Ron Paul. Unless we take this country back, I and others like me will be sent to terrorist interogation camps.
He would treat abortion like the drug issue: get the federal government OUT of the issue, let the states decide. Simple. He wouldn't impose his personal views on everyone. Each state would have different laws, surely, but at least you'd have the choice of living in one that completely banned it (maybe Kansas) and one that allowed it on all levels including partial-birth abortion (maybe New York?). What more and fair choice do you want?
It's unfortunate people don't know anything about Paul's positions and instead assume he's some wildly anti-Roe-v-Wade foe. The man has also made it clear his main preoccupations of his administration would be foreign policy and economic issues.
Whoever you support for president is unimportant!
Thank you for being on the same side as us Ron Paul supporters, sir!
After all, it's about the message of liberty, not the man.
Adrienne Pass
Dear Mayor Anderson:
Thank you for your courage. Please continue to speak and to lead us. These are desperate times.
I have to commend this man for his courage to speak out. The funny thing is many politicians are scared to bruise their knees and offend their colleagues. The true patriots are the ones that shout the loudest and can care less what people think. One thing you can not dispute about Ron Paul is he inspires people to think because he does not talk to us like sheep. Whether you are for or against him at the end of the day if you look into him you will know whether your are a Dem or Rep. I have chosen my battle carefully and I will support Ron Paul for the GOP nomination.
Peace,
I sounds like he is calling on all of the freedom loving people of Utah to vote for Ron Paul. United we stand and we will win our freedom back and save America from becoming the North American Union.
Wake up America! Don't you see what is going on around you. Save your self. Vote for Dr. Ron Paul for president. Google search Ron Paul, youtube search Ron Paul.
I don't understand how this comment stream devolved into a debate over Ron Paul versus other candidates. Rocky "the mayor" needs to be applauded for his brilliance in speaking to the atrocities that this Bush-Cheney administration has perpetrated on all Americans. You don't have to be put in rendition prison or water-boarded yourself to know it is wrong for any human being. There is a report that Cheney made attempts to persuade telecommunication companies to assist in spying as early as February 2001 - well before September. 9/11 was just what the Neo-Conservatives wanted as an excuse to do whatever they wanted without recrimination. Makes you wonder if those Neo-cons actually planned 9/11 in the first place.
I travel out of country at least twice a year and know first-hand that Europeans wonder if we Americans approve of this fiasco. I, for one, do NOT.
Rocky, you have my highest respect for having the courage to voice what many Americans feel (ref. your speech 27 Oct. 2007).
Unfortunately there is a great gap between how they feel and how they act. As you pointed out, too much time and energy wasted on ballgames and absence of underwear. Apathy.
Since you have the courage, now you need the energy. You have to put in more speeches, action and whatever else is needed to awaken your countrymen/women to those truths you were speaking about.
There are many around the planet who noted your words, your passion and integrity. There are many who will also send you that energy you will need. I am one. But there are many of us.
With Blessings,

Here is a leader who is pointing the way and many respondents start squabbling about petty little differences. It is no wonder that we are in this mess. Wake up and become unified to kick these criminals out and then work from our areas of agreement. They will prove to be much larger and substantive than our differences.
