The Audacity Of US Exceptionalism

Today Obama, commenting on Iran, said:
" we are going to be dealing with an Iranian regime that has historically been hostile to the United States, that has caused some problems in the neighborhood and is pursuing nuclear weapons."

Hmm...
I read that statement and couldn't help wonder:
couldn't Iran have issued that same statement and make it even more factually condemning (but didn't). Using Obama's(or rather his speechwriter's)words, Iran's statement could read something like this:

"we are going to be dealing with a US regime that has historically been hostile to Iran, that has caused many problems in the global neighborhood and is not only pursuing more and more nuclear weapons, but has already used them!"

The audacity of US exceptionalism!
