ACTION ALERT: Contact President Obama
to Sign LandMine Ban Treaty
Disarmament community,
SPECIAL NOTE ON BURMA: According to Human Rights Watch,
The international stigma against the weapon has become so strong that in
recent years the only government laying significant numbers of new
landmines has been the abusive military government in Burma.
As you probably know the Obama administration has rejected an
opportunity to sign the Landmine Ban Treaty of 1997, as reported
by Steve Goose, Human Rights Watch, www.hrw.org and others.
See article below: US: Obama Should Join Mine Ban Treaty

Shock over Obama Decision to Reject Landmine Ban, by Jeffrey Allen
This rejection is a great betrayal to the disarmament community
in the US and around the world.
Fortunately there is an upcoming meeting next week in Cartagena,
Columbia where the US will be represented. (see article below)
The next few days then will be an opportunity for us, the disarmament
community to, again, encourage the administration to sign on to the
Treaty.
1)Let us check the HRW website and sign the letter to President Obama:
