With the United States at war for the longest time in American history, those who are both for and against the war frequently point to the continuing funding of the conflict by Congress as the key issue that needs to be addressed. Our speaker for this session has centered his efforts on this theme in most of his books and public appearrances.
David Swanson is an unabashed liberal who wrote the recently published book "Daybreak: Undoing the Imperial Presidency and Forming a More Perfect Union." He was press secretary for Congressman Dennis Kucinich's 2004 presidential campaign and wrote the introduction to his "35 Articles of Impeachment and the Case for Prosecuting George W. Bush."
From 2000 to 2003, Swanson was the communications coordinator for ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has recently closed its doors after the adverse publicity generated by the undercover video that was released by Republican operatives.
An a leading peace activist, Swanson was instrumental in making the Downing Street Memo known to Congress and the public, and he has devised and promoted a variety of websites for the peace and justice movements.
Since Mr. Swanson has never been accused of being ambiguous on any subject, you won't want to miss this session.
So plan to be with us...and please remember to bring a friend!
John Edward Hurley
Chairman
