Tina Richards on NPR

Listen here. The host pretends that Richards "confronted" Obey and that Obey is on our side as "one of the few" who voted against the war. Many voted against the war. Only a few continued their opposition and tried to end the war once it had begun. Another NPR story airs a discussion between two people who agree with Congressman Obey, not Richards, whom the host calls a "protester."

Legal expert: President Bush may have ordered torture of terror suspects

By David Edwards and Andrew Bielak, www.RawStory.com

The US government began hearings on Friday to determine if 14 accused terrorists currently being held at Guantanamo Bay can be deemed enemy combatants. The hearings, which have been closed to independent observers, are receiving heavy criticism for their secretive nature and what some are calling pre-determined outcomes.

"The administration has been almost pathological in trying to find ways to keep these people from ever seeing a real judge or a real lawyer," John Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, told the Associated Press, "and the reasons are obvious."

“Republican Congress worst thing that’s happened to US Army and Marine Corps”

Friday night on Real Time, Bill Maher interviewed retired Army Major General Paul D. Eaton who was the original Commander in charge of training Iraqi troops. Maher tries to get a laugh out of him but as you'll see, Eaton is a straightforward man who doesn't mince words — if he says it, he means it. He blames Donald Rumsfeld for the majority of the failures in Iraq (including the current problems at Walter Reed), thanks God for the new Democratic majority and lays down some truth. -- James Starowicz

Citizens' Hearing Video

ON-LINE VIDEO IN TWO PARTS

"In an unprecedented two-day Citizens' Hearing held over January 20-21, 2007, more than 600 citizens joined a distinguished tribunal panel in listening to testimony about the legality of the US invasion of Iraq. The Citizens' Hearing on the Legality of U.S. Actions in Iraq was convened to present evidence that Lt. Ehren Watada would have presented in his February 5 court martial on the question that the military ruled barred from entry (on Jan. 16) - the question of the Iraq War's legality. Lt. Watada has repeatedly asserted that because the Iraq War is illegal, it is his duty to refuse orders to deploy. He is the Army's first commissioned officer to take such a stand." For complete details on the Citizens' Hearing, please see: http://www.WarTribunal.org For updates on Lt. Watada, please see: http://www.thankyoult.org
