WHAT: "THE MOST DANGEROUS MAN IN AMERICA: DANIEL ELLSBERG AND THE PENTAGON PAPERS" HAS FREE SCREENING APRIL 30 AT BRUNO WALTER AUDITORIUM, LINCOLN CENTER, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023-7503

Robert Ellsberg, son of Daniel Ellsberg and a key figure in Pentagon Papers affair, will speak.

DETAILS: On April 30 at 2:30 pm, there will be a free screening of the Oscar-nominated documentary, "The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and The Pentagon Papers" (2010, :94), a film by Judith Ehrlich and Rick Goldsmith that was partially funded by The Yip Harburg Foundation. Robert Ellsberg, Daniel's son and a key figure in the Pentagon Papers affair, will appear at the event for a talk-back and questions.

The film was a 2010 Academy Award Nominee and has won seven other prizes to-date. The multiple award-winning film traces how Daniel Ellsberg, a high-level Pentagon official and Vietnam War strategist, concluded that the war was based on decades of lies and leaked 7,000 pages of top secret documents to The New York Times, making headlines around the world. Ellsberg risked life in prison to stop a war he helped plan. This story of one man's profound change of heart is also a piercing look at the world of government secrecy as revealed by the ultimate insider. Marked by a landmark battle between America's greatest newspapers and its president--that went to the Supreme Court--this political thriller unravels the political saga that lead directly to Watergate, Nixon's resignation and the end of the Vietnam War.

Robert Ellsberg is Daniel's son by his first marriage and was 13 years old when his father asked for his help in Xeroxing the top-secret Pentagon Papers study. Robert was later called before the Grand Jury to testify to his father's acts and Robert's testimony served in part as the basis of the indictment against Ellsberg and a "co-conspirator," Tony Russo. At age 19, he joined the progressive Catholic Worker Movement and worked with its founder, Dorothy Day for the last five years of her life. Robert earned a Master's degree in Theology from Harvard Divinity School. He is currently the publisher of Orbis Books, the publishing arm of the Maryknoll Fathers. He is the author of several books including "All Saints: Daily Reflections on Saints, Prophets, and Witnesses for Our Time" and assisted with the editing of "Secrets" (2002), his father's book about the Pentagon Papers. Most recently, he edited "The Duty of Delight: The Diaries of Dorothy Day" (2008).

New York Magazine (David Edelstein) called the film "Riveting! A straight-ahead, enthralling story of moral courage. This story changed the world. The movie offers one revelatory interview after another. CRITICS' PICK!" The New York Times (Mike Hale) deemed it "Detailed, clearly told, persuasive..." The New York Post (V.A. Musetto) called it "The most exciting thriller I've seen in a while - as powerful as anything Hollywood can throw at us."

The Yip Harburg Foundation advances and promotes new works of American political art, especially efforts involving cultural and societal issues. To that end, it has funded or helped to fund over 50 political documentaries to-date. This screening is part of the ongoing Yip Harburg Political Documentary Series, a program of the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, where Yip Harburg's Creative Archive is also housed.

This free screening will be Friday, April 30 at 2:30 PM in Bruno Walter Auditorium, 40 Lincoln Center Plaza. Reservations are not required. For further info, go to the film's website, www.mostdangerousman.org. For more event information, call the Yip Harburg Foundation office at 212-343-9668.

Wiki leaks are the new Pentagon Papers.......Long live the whistleblowers against Fascist Empire, criminal foreign policies....SMASH THEIR LIES AND DECEPTION.

I wouldn't make such a strong comparison or analogy. Wikileaks is a Swedish organisation, Sweden-based anyway, "that publishes anonymous submissions and leaks of sensitive documents from governments and other organizations, while preserving the anonymity of its sources", according to Wikipedia.

The Pentagon Papers were not the news media that published the Papers, and this is what Wikileaks is, an organisation that publishes sensitive or secret information based on documents provided to the organisation. And the Pentagon Papers were only about the Vietnam War and, of course, the extremely criminal conduct of the President and others in ordering and covering up about their war crimes, etcetera.

Liberal whores never learn from their own history, except to appease corporate fascism, Empire, military fascism....in the name of CLASS TYRANNY, CLASS WHORING ELITES.

Having seen what the sort Youtube video, above, is about, I did a Web search to see if any longer related videos are available and the search turned up a link to the following Dem. Now! interview with Daniel Ellsberg, his wife Patricia, and Judith Ehrlich, who's the "co-director with Rick Goldsmith of the new documentary The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers".

It's a GREAT interview and is around 30 minutes.

It's also EERY, though not in a supernatural sense. It's a very scary interview, because we're evidently or clearly having a serious replay of history going on today with the Obama administration. The same would've been true with the Bush admin., but that's past now and the Obama admin. could stop doing like Nixon et al did.

One of the scary similarities is wherein it was exposed that Nixon et al had the intention of maintaining an indefinitely long war while he told the public the contrary. We have the same thing happening with the Obama administration, for we know that he's claimed that the U.S. is to withdraw from Iraq in 2011, but all evidence indicates that he's blatantly LYING.

The interview would surely make a great complementary video to show along with the documentary film when people screen the the latter for current anti-war, anti-gov't usurpery, ... activism events.

In the short Youtube trailer video for the documentary film we hear Nixon saying that what Daniel Ellsberg's action did was to give "aid and comfort to the enemy", and this reminds of the Bush Jr administration claiming that whoever was against the U.S. conducting the wars on Afghanistan and Iraq were like enemy combatants of sorts, or with the enemy.

Daniel Ellsberg, in the interview at Dem. Now! linked in my above post, refers to the war on Afghanistan the Vietnamistan war, and while he doesn't say Iraqistan war in the interview, he eventually does speak of the wars on Afghanistan and Iraq as very similar to each other, which they are; with all of the bombings, etcetera, committed to the two countries.

We clearly haven't been getting a lot new history happening. We've been getting replays of hellbent history of several decades ago.

Now another aspect of the Vietnam War era history must happen, another "Daniel Ellsberg" leaking a new "Pentagon Papers", say, or f.e.

Hopefully a lot of U.S. military troops who refuse to disobey criminal and wrongful orders while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan will get an opportunity to view "The Most Dangerous Man in America: ...", and it would be good if they do get to view the film, the to also view the Dem. Now! interview linked in my above post. Maybe then the troops only refusing to disobey orders out of cowardice will develop some long-needed courage!

The Dem. Now! interview is not only more important and much richer than the short Youtube trailer, but also shows more historical clips than the trailer does.
