Kucinich Calls War on Libya Impeachable
From Politico:
A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.
Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.
Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney over Iraq — only to be blocked by his own leadership — asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses.
Kucinich also questioned why Democratic leaders didn’t object when President Barack Obama told them of his plan for American participation in enforcing the Libyan no-fly zone during a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday, sources told POLITICO.
And liberals fumed that Congress hadn’t been formally consulted before the attack and expressed concern that it would lead to a third U.S. war in the Muslim world.

Although I voted for President Obama, I am sorry to see that he has not only continued but extended many wrong, misguided, and even criminal policies of the Bush Administration. His Attorney-General refuses to indict G.W. Bush and Dick Cheney, who have admitted condoning waterboarding recognized as torture by virtually everyone else, has refused to even investigate their lies which propelled the U.S. to illegally invade Iraq and Afghanistan, causing the deaths of more than a million innocent civilians and nearly 5,000 American servicepeople, and laundering hundreds of billions of dollars from the Treasury into the coffers of their corporate cronies. Yet he tries to fabricate charges against heroic whistleblowers who have exposed details of such serious crimes. There have been no indictments of the major banksters, including ex-Treasury Secretary Hank "Mr. Risk" Paulson, who made very sure his friends were covered, at the expense of the rest of us.
President Obama arrogated to himself the right to assassinate whomever he alone determines to be a "terrorist", and now wages an attack on yet another country without debate and approval by Congress as required by our Constitution. Impeachment may be the only course to restrain another scofflaw in the Oval Office, especially one who so blithely ignores the laws he has studied, taught, and sworn to uphold. I urge you to do so.
