Hi Cindy,

I'm 50 yrs old My cousin, almost a big brother, Wayne Smith died in a mid air helicopter crash in Vietnam in June 1968. I know what it's like to hold your 8 yr old cousin as he tries to come to grips with the fact that his big brother he so loved and admired was never coming home? I've seen a mother when she has just learned that her son has died, and for nothing? As a 12 yr. old, those memories of my aunt Rosie and my cousin Guy crying and crying, are burned deep into my memory.

I know Cindy, I know what you are feeling, and I want you to know you are a GREAT AMERICAN! Keep the faith, real faith, not the fake faith that guy up the road says he has.

Dear Cindy,

When the dust settles you will be long remembered. Your courage and faith is a fitting
testiment to your son's memory.
I am a Vietnam vet and I stand beside you in spirit.
I want George Bush, Dick Cheney and others of their kind to send their children for once.
They always let others do the fighting and dying while they profit and speak of a necessary
sacrifice. Send the twins! Not to some desk job, but to the front line....

Bring our soldiers home!

Sincerely,

Terence Brownlow

Cindy, I am so proud of you for standing your ground. I am sure you know that the reason Mr. Bush will not meet with you is because HE CANNOT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION!!! There is no "noble cause," only lies and more lies. I can't believe he is so dumb to believe them himself. How I wish it were possible for me to be with you. I would be so proud to share a ditch with you.

My Vietnam Vet fiance is so afraid that there will be a knock on the door for me one day, for all the petitions I've signed and e-mail messages I've sent to the White House.

I am copying my latest message to Mr. Bush for you. Keep up the good work...YOU GO GIRL!!! We love you!

Proudly,
Marie Egnaczyk

=================================================================
Mr. Bush

I sit here sobbing again, watching the families waiting for the bodies of their sons, fathers, brothers, husbands on CNN. They were killed in a war that was proclaimed on LIES!!!
You know exactly where Bin Laden is. Why have you not captured him? He was the threat, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.

Christ died for our sins, but Mr. Bush, thousands of men and women died for your stupidity, to feed your ego. Families have been forever shattered. Little ones will grow up without knowing their fathers and mothers, but knowing that they were heroes in an unjust war. What effect will that have on their lives and on society???

We are still dealing with the effects of Vietnam. My brother and my fiance are veterans of that fiasco and are suffering from the psychological effects of having been shot at, shot down, and seeing their buddies blown to bits before their eyes. And then, the unwelcome receptions they got when they came back.

My fiance's face has been scarred from Agent Orange, and injuries from a helicopter crash have rendered him disabled. But, the Army has no records of that crash, no records of the hospital treatments in Vietnam from the Agent Orange. No record of him even being in an area where he was exposed, so he was denied Agent Orange compensation. When he returned from the war, his mother screamed and cried when she saw his scarred face. For the past 35 years, he has to deal with the stares and pity when they see him.

I see first hand what happens to those who return and their families. We are so happy to have them home alive, but so sad and even angry when we see how it has affected them and their relationships, their quality of life, their future.

I shudder to think of what this generation and their families will be facing for generations to come. We see by the current polls that America is waking up to what you and VP Halliburton have done.

Shame on you, Mr. Bush. Shame, shame, shame!!!

With a heavy heart, I am

The longer you can hold out the more the country will be able to rally around you, and maybe dam up the rush to disaster by the administration/GOP/backroom boys. It's not only the war and deaths, but the ecological and social disaster they are creating.

I think about our soldiers and the Iraqi people and worry about them every single day and at the same time, I'm called unpatriotic or one of those anti-war crazies because I never went along with this war. This evil was done in my name, in all of our names. I feel guilty even though I was very much against this invasion. I guess I don't feel I did enough to try and stop it.

I signed a petition about a month ago to impeach Bush. What makes me angry is that I almost didn't sign it because I was afraid. It takes courage to do what you are doing.

what a Ballsy Lady, this is what we DO need to hear from thoise that have had someone who has a loved one who made the supreme sacrifice. I am only sorry that I could not be there with you. A question I would like to ask Bush considering the figures coming from the Pentagon of 9000 dead which is a far cry from the 1800 that Bush claims for his War on Terrorism. Just what death benefits are now given to the survivors of those killed in battle, and what benefits are given to those classified as not dying in battle. Could it be that he is also cheating those survivors of others that have paid the ultimate price? I would put nothing below him and his traitorous carte. Keep up the good fight you are not alone.

Dear Cindy - Your bravery brings great honor to the memory of your fallen son and all those men and women, sons and daughters who have died for Bush's lies. You are a true hero, as was your son.

You will probably only receive more lies, platitudes and pretense in response. Your are a real hero in my eyes, because what you are doing brings honor and validation to those of us who have grieved over this evil madness and mayhem since "Shock and Awe" first rained down on the innocent people of Iraq.

I support your efforts all the way, and am one more woman with you, in heart and spirit.

" Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception." --
Mark Twain, The Mysterious Stranger, 1916, Ch.9

Mrs. Sheehan, I commend you for your stance in the face of
intimidation by the President's honor guard, otherwise known as the Secret Service. They need to guard what little honor he may have left
after his use of outdated intell, fear invoking word images, and yes out and out lies to pistol whip this country into a war.
You a being castigated by some for changing your storyline
on your Seattle visit with the President,A man who though he can no longer walk among his subjects(which is how he seems to view the public)constantly boasts of Freedom as the great cause for which (or should I say TO WHICH) your son gave his life.It does seem as if your
storyline is held to different standards than the man who took us to war. In keeping with constitutional necessity it had to be marketed
as a defensive move.[see Downing Street Memo]The present snake oil
pitch is that it is a noble cause. I must have not been in school the when we covered the part of the constitution concerning standing armies and noble causes.
Please may I extend my sympathy for the loss of your son and may
He continue to live on in the way you see fit to remember him.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. What you are doing is incredibly brave and I applaud you. You deserve answers. A mother should not lose her son without understanding why, especially with this fraud of a presidency. Bush needs to be a real president and face the hard questions, he needs to face you and see the pain he has caused so many parents. I will never understand why your son had to die, I will never understand this war and am sickened at the state of our country. This is no longer America.

Bush - Courageous or Cowardly?

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2005-08-09 18:37.
Dear Cindy:

I applaud your efforts on our behalf. Though I have no children of my own, I consider your son my loss as well. I believe this: If GWB aggrees to meet with you it will signal that he has the courage to move beyond platitudes and rhetoric (dying for a noble cause) to start an honest discussion about why we are fighting this war and what we must do to win it and bring our children home. If he doesn't meet with you it will demonstrate that he is a coward of the greatest magnitude. If he proves to be that, my heart sinks knowing that everyday America's youth goes to battle under the leadership of such a man.

Dear Cindy,
Your prescence in Crawford, Texas has given me hope. For that I thank you most of all. You may be the spark that can be fanned into a flame. The war in Iraq is just the latest evidence that demonstrates that our government is no longer our own. I believe that the only power the powers that be fear is that of an aroused, truthfully informed populace. This is why they spend so much time and energy feeding us spin and lies through the media. Perhaps there is someone in the media with enough clout to ignite your story. Ted Turner are you listening? Where are your cameras and reporters when we need them the most? We can spend countless media hours and prime-time in-depth interviews on the "Runaway Bride", but barely a minute or two on the Mother of a fallen soldier holding a vigil in Crawford, Texas asking to speak with our President? The media will have a lot to answer for someday.
Cindy, thank you for your courage and perseverance. You are a true American patriot. Your son is proud of you.

Keep up the good work, and I'm truly sorry for your son's death.

“A Common Ground For Healing‿

For Susan, Justice, Jonathan and Grant
January 17, 2002

For most human beings, “closure‿ is an all-important concept which is commonly discussed more now than ever before. And though it is difficult to be positive in our common pain, "it is time (as Will Rogers might have said) to commence to begin" a meaningful end to this incredible chapter in the American Saga.

“Closure‿ is a final destination devoutly to be wished for the entire country and the entire world. Our journey toward closure must have a first step in order for us to ever arrive there together.

Transcendent of differences, most of us believe that we need to somehow say goodbye to those who have left us. Most of us attend a ceremony that includes a grave-side service ending with a handful of soil tossed with thoughtful reflection into the grave.

All of us experience the grieving process in our own way and at our own rate of speed. The majority of us will benefit emotionally if we can feel that our personal grief is included as a substantive part of our nation’s official business of healing. Healing which must include all the tragedies which have occurred since September 11, 2001.

Our people require at least an opportunity to gather spiritually at the “grave-side‿ in reflection for those in Heaven, but also to display to all men and women everywhere our positive resolve for the future. With thoughts of love and unity rather than those of hatred and confusion, each of us might be permitted to tenderly toss our handful of earth and finally begin to accept that
together we shall go on with hope.

IT IS THEREFORE PROPOSED THAT:

Beginning with local communities as organized by each municipal government and continuing on at the direction of the Office of the Governor of each state, and ultimately culminating with executive oversight resting with the Mayor of New York City, one million tons of earth will be gathered locally in every community. Handful-by-handful...earth offered up by millions of Americans from
every state in the Union, collected and combined, then transported to New York to mend the "wounded earth."

It is proposed that we use the hands of the nation to heal ourselves and put an end, with God’s help, to this nightmare experience. If this is done . . .

In years to come and forever more, generation after generation will return to find that the earth has healed and that our nation remains cleansed with common tears from such horror. Perhaps they will find the presence of the “better Angels of our nature,‿ to quote Mr. Lincoln, evidenced by peace instead of war, quiet instead of a deafening explosion, stability instead of collapse. And perhaps some of us may even return and remember that our own hands held for a moment the very soil that has filled the void.

Whether, as some people propose, this site will in future see even more lofty construction – or, as others may wish, it is transformed into the “little sister‿ to Central Park, the space is sacred and must in some manner be treated as a consecrated place.

As we know, a million tons of earth were originally excavated for the World Trade Center and went to create “New Real Estate‿ on the Hudson. We now have the opportunity to be revolutionary with our approach to a healing exercise, which is vital to us all. We have the opportunity to create a “Uniquely New and Real Estate‿ which we as one people will declare as a legacy to the world as “A Common Ground for Healing.‿

Look, your actions do not support the troops. You are grasping at liberal conspiracy theories to tear down the President. We need to win the war in Iraq, which is part of the war on terrorism. We need to do more than just ask them nicely not to attack us. This means that soldiers will be put at risk, but it is necessary to attack terrorists where they live before they hit us in America. This is reality, sorry but you need to hear the truth.

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2005-08-09 18:37.
Did you get your right wing talking points from Scott McClellan?

Cindy's actions do not hurt the troops. She is taking advantage of the same freedoms her son died trying to give to Iraqis - the after-the-fact explanation given by this lame administration after everything else they said turned out to be lies.

Soldiers should only be put at risk after careful examination of facts and careful analysis of the real threat and consequences to actions that will be taken. Pompous idiots in suits sitting in air conditioned DC offices don't count since thety are too chickenshit to fight themselves.

This pathetic administration rushed to judgement and blew it horribly and her son died for it. Shame on you for wanting to curtail her freedoms. Why do you hate freedom?

BTW, are you of draft age? I hear it's been raised. Care to go help "support the troops" in a meaningful way and take up arms and fight for this administration's lies so Iraqis can have the same freedom you want to deny Cindy?

As a disclaimer, I'm a vet, I vote, and unfortunately, I stumped for GW in 2000 - to my regret now.

the point being she wants an explanation of what george w shrub is calling a"noble cause"
we were not attacked by "iraq" remember " osama bin laden" and the "al queda "?
we went after saddam which because Bush was afraid that they might attack us so he sent our troops over ther in the pretense of winning "iraqi freedom" i believe it was called
and yes they are free from saddams rule and butchery
but why are our kids friends and famiy members still over there dying every day when he has already declared "mission accomplished"
it looks like someone needs to be coming up with answers
and judging by her position i dont think you or anyone else telling cindy to go home is going to cut it
as a matter of fact the rest of us should be asking the same questions

Dear Cindy, I've seen you on TV, signed Conyers" petition et al. Hearing you at "the basement Caucus of the House" was impressive. I am disabled; otherwise would join you in person in Texas to demand from our "elected" president that he truly be accountable to his constituency, that he talk directly and in person and in his own words to the citizens of this country who are his boss. President Bush was "elected" to work for us, not to hide from us; to talk plainly to us, not to lie to us. President Bush is not above us, but one of us, as an American in a democratic society that, in theory does not recognize elitism, nor reward the arrogance of an "I know better than you" imperialistically-styled leader. Your child died to "allegedly protect this country's safety." You deserve thatb your president speak directly to you of your son's sacrifice, and why it had to be, why it was important, what was our leader thinking and saying to other world leaders that got us into this tragic war, with so many sons and daughters lost. You deserve to hear from P. Bush Why! There are millions of us behind you. Keep your courage. You make us proud to be Americans! Thank you, Dr. Fredrica Mann Breidenstein, Ardmore. PA

Dear Cindy,

I am so sorry that you lost your son, Casey, because of this Iraq mess. I cannot imagine the pain that you've had to go through, especially as you came to grips with the lies that have been perpetrated on this country by the Bush Administration.

I have nothing but admiration for you and your efforts to inform the country of the truth. You are so courageous; you are a true patriot.
Please don't back down. You have every right to confront George Bush and every right to call him a liar to his face. Don't be surprised if he won't give you the opportunity. He's a coward. Plain and simple.
In fact, maybe a new nickname for him would be appropriate: how about the Crawford Coward?

Don't give up. Hundreds of thousands of people, maybe millions, are with you in spirit in that ditch, even if we can't physically get there to participate in your vigil.

Peace be with you.

SLEEP IS A WEAPON--Try to find a bed w/AC.

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2005-08-09 18:01.
We admire what you are doing Cindy. On some practical matters: Over the years we learn that SLEEP IS A WEAPON, but sometimes forget.

Read somewhere you were sleeping in the tent, which is admirable but I know how hard that is in the heat. Its critical that you be RESTED to be your best, particularly if you do get a meeting. Consider getting a REGULAR BED somewhere or even a MOTEL w/AC so you'll be fresh next day. Maybe someone with an RV could help you on that. That won't take away from the symbol of the tent being the camp. If the tent is someone else's, return it and buy a cheap tent to set up, and if someone steals it at night you can get another. Don't continue to sleep in the heat, it will ruin you.

With all you have to keep track of, practical matters untended could undermine the effort. Take care of yourself and eat right, and we know you won't forget the Downing Street Memo. We're all hoping the best for you Cindy.

Take it all the way Cindy Sheehan. Right now you are the voice for all of us who feel helpless and feel that we don't have a voice.

I am a mother of a Marine from the first Gulf War, who before he left to be brainwashed was a loving liberal--he came back as a person I barely recognized-full of racism and now is a very conservative Republican at the age of 38. Saddens me.

Anyway, I wish I was there. It is time for the sane and wise of humanity all over the world to start demanding peace within and peace without. Wars are beneath us at this stage of our intellectual, spiritual and moral development. Any leader of a people that uses war as a means to an end lacks character, humanity, humility, moral judgement and as far as I am concerned is a sign of pure insanity. They are a step backward and not forward. Leaders make wars and the rest of us pay dearly--like you have.

When are we going to realize that we are all in this together--all of humanity and that it is time to work together as brothers and sisters in peace. I know in my heart that most people around the world feel the same way. Unfortunately, it is the voices of greed, corruption and war-mongering that get the press. It is time for us to stand together in solidarity. I am completely ready at 55 years old to take to the streets and I pray to God that that there are many others like me.
I picketed outside the courthous in Colorado Springs for 3 months alone (even tho I had numerous supporters) against some very unjust and unconstitutional laws there. When it comes to your backyard, you either accept or fight back and I chose to hold onto my dignity and fight back and I accomplished a lot-in terms of awareness and action. So, I know that anger against injustices is a great motivator and if I were in your shoes and my son had been killed I would be doing exactly what you and other mothers are doing and even tho I cannot be there at this point-I am with you.

Sincerely,

Kathy Carlin

Thank you for being so brave
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2005-08-09 16:29.
Dear Cindy,

As a Canadian, I have been watching the invasion and occupation of Iraq and the apparent American descent into fascism with real terror and a sense of utter powerlessness. We have also been marching in the streets and protesting this brutal, illegal war.

When Bush came to visit our Prime Minister last year, there were tens of thousands of us here in little Ottawa (despite the fact that even our own media downplayed it),telling him to go home and to stop his lies and slaughter.

I am so sorry for the senseless death of your son, and I applaud your
incredibly inspiring courage. It seems to me that it is American women
who are doing the most to try to stop this atrocity. Today, when I read the latest on your story, I also read a piece by Monica Benderman, the wife of Kevin Benderman who tried to be a conscientious objector and who is being needlessly punished and disgraced. Mothers, wives, girlfriends... it is the women who really see the cruelty and baselessness of this war... and it is the women who have the courage to speak out.

Here in Canada, many of us support the soldiers who are trying to claim refugee status here. I know that is not a solution and it isn't very much. Bush doesn't listen to his own citizens, let alone us. But know that there are people all over the world - the majority of people - who feel deeply for you and who stand in solidarity with you.

You and Casey are the real American heroes. By making your stand, you
might save many lives. Your story might even touch the heart of some
embittered person who was thinking about killing innocent Americans
because of Bush. Like you, they might come to see the human costs of war through witnessing your tragedy and your brave struggle. I sure do hope so.

My thoughts are with you. Don't ever give up. You are an inspiration to us all and a reminder of what is good in life.

In Sisterhood and Solidarity,

Cindy,

You are now bigger than yourself, hold on for the ride and play your role with pride. I believe history will show that your actions were the turning point in American consciousness; the alarm clock that woke us from our slumber. You have placed yourself among an elite crowd of genuine leaders. Not the type of leader that buys their way in, not the type that shuck and jive for power and personal profit, but the type that earn their way in from the heart and consider others before themselves in the true Christian tradition. They are often times reluctant leaders, propelled to greatness by having a pure soul in the right place at the right time. The love of your heart pours through with clarity, we get it.

Your son is proud of you, I'm proud of you, and God is proud of you.

Dear Cindy:

God Bless you! I can not imagine the pain you are in. I don't ever want to have to live that pain either. The only solace I can get out of the ugliness this man has put you , and this country through. Is that as long as we believe, truly believe. This man will have to, along with all of those who supported him in the destruction of our beautiful country, and the killings that have occurred on his watch, will have to answer to the same God he proclaims to lean on. I have got to believe, otherwise I will completely go out of my mind.

I just wish, hope, and pray, that other families who have lost a loved one, will have the same courage you have and their loved one's had who died unnecessarily to go to Crawford and stand side by side with you.

In the end, they will in turn be standing side by side with their loved one who died. We don't really know why this man went over there. We have a pretty good idea. We know one thing for sure he lied about the weapons. And, we also know for sure. When you die, you can't take it with you.

Everything about this administration is a tragedy. From beginning to end. An American tragedy. Supporting you, is the best I can do. Outside of my prayers. Please, please, take care. Watch your back.

Sincerely, Patricia from New York

Don't take no for an answer, and don't take malarkey for an answer, either! You Rock, Cindy, and you ARE a rock!

Remember what anthropologist Margaret Meade said (something like), "Never doubt that a small group of concerned citizens can change the world. In fact, that is the only thing that EVER HAS!" (emphsis added)

So many of us want to help, but are not at this moment able to slip the chains of survival to come down there. . . Or ARE WE?

Is that what you need most? For some of us to jump in a car and just get there?
What do we need to bring for ourselves, can we camp out? Or sleep in our cars?

I drove from Olympia, Washington to Nevada to see friends several times last year - about 10 hours - Crawford would be a little bit farther, but if we were a group. . .?

Dropping things and just doing what needs to be done for the higher good is never easy, but what do you say, people?

Is there anyone else out there seeing that this might be the right time to make our statement? to stand up and as "we the people" demand changes?

I would love to help, yet I am so scared. Bush really scares me... he reminds me of Hitler. I am afraid he is going to start persecuting anyone who is against his "regime." But it's true, something has to be done NOW or it will only get more dangerous. That was the mistake made in Nazi Germany-- nobody thought it would ever come to something as terrible as the holocaust, so the majority of people did not protest until it was too late.

Why Your Son Died: Peak Oil
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2005-08-08 23:57.
Dear Cindy,

I'm very sorry about your son's death and I honor what you are doing now. But Bush is not the only one to blame for your son's death. We are all to blame. The American people are sleepwalking through history. This war in Iraq is all about oil. But it's a little more complicated than enriching Bush's buddies. The human species is at a crossroads due to a phenominon called PEAK OIL. Terrorism and the Iraq War are all symptoms of an economic tsunami that is about to hit us: when global oil supply peaks. Unfortunately, our government's only solution is a military one. The following are some revealing quotes/facts/sources that prove my point.

- Cheney Energy Task force, May 2001:

"Our prosperity and way of life are sustained by energy use. Energy security must be a priority of U.S. Trade and Foreign policy."

- As a result of a Judicial Watch suit, it was exposed that this report also contained maps of Iraq's oil fields, pipelines, refineries, and terminals.

- Strategic Energy Policy Challenges for the 21st Century (report commisioned by Cheney's Energy Task force, April 2001):

"The U.S. remains a prisoner of it's energy dilema. Iraq remains a destabilizing infuence to the flow of oil to international markets from the Middle East. Saddam Hussein has also demonstrated a willingness to threaten to use the oil weapon and to use his own export progam to manipulate oil markets. Therefore the U.S. should conduct immediate policy review toward Iraq including military, energy, econonic, and political/diplomatic assessments."

- Check out www.willyoujoinus.com . Even the oil companies see the writing on the wall. Chevron is essentially admitting that Peak Oil is upon us.

- Check out speaches from Rebublican Congressman Roscoe Bartlett. They are available on the internet. He is one of the only PHD's in science in the House and is trying to educate Americans about this issue.

- Matt Simmons of Simmons International Investment Bank and member of Cheney's Energy Task force gives regular speaches about Peak Oil. His book, "Twilight in the Desert" is a study of Saudi Oil. They are lying about how much they have!

- Google "Peak Oil" and you will find much much more

I respect what you are doing now. It's just too easy for the right wing lunatic fringe to brush you off when you talk about Bush making his oil buddies rich. Bush is doing that because he is a wholly owned subsidiary of those people. I believe you have a unique opportunity to really bring attention to this critical issue. The Association for the Study of Peak Oil and Gas - USA is having it's opening meeting November 10th and 11th in Denver. You could bring publicity to the Peak Oil issue that is desperitely needed. Bush and his chronies don't have the guts to tell the truth about the crisis that we are facing.

Here is a prophetic quote from Jimmy Carter's Crisis of confidence speech in 1979 during the second oil crisis of the 70s:

"We are at a turning point in our history. There are two paths to choose. One is a path I've warned about tonight, the path that leads to fragmentation and self-interest. Down that road lies a mistaken idea of freedom, the right to grasp for ourselves some advantage over others. That path would be one of constant conflict between narrow interests ending in chaos and immobility. It is a certain route to failure."

I truely believe helping to spread the word about Peak Oil would be the best way to honor your son. Please consider!

Sincerely,
Neal C. Brandvik, extremely concerned U.S. citizen

On direct action...
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2005-08-08 23:05.
From Martin Luther King, Jr's "Letter From a Birmingham Jail":

You may well ask: "Why direct action? Why sit-ins, marches and so forth? Isn't negotiation a better path?"

You are quite right in calling, for negotiation. Indeed, this is the very purpose of direct action. Nonviolent direct action seeks to create such a crisis and foster such a tension that a community which has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront the issue. It seeks so to dramatize the issue that it can no longer be ignored.

My citing the creation of tension as part of the work of the nonviolent-resister may sound rather shocking. But I must confess that I am not afraid of the word "tension." I have earnestly opposed violent tension, but there is a type of constructive, nonviolent tension which is necessary for growth.

Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the mind so that individuals could rise from the bondage of myths and half-truths to the unfettered realm of creative analysis and objective appraisal, we must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind of tension in society that will help men rise from the dark depths of prejudice and racism to the majestic heights of understanding and brotherhood.

----------

My prayers are with Mrs. Sheehan and her family and all those who are able to join her in Crawford. Speaking truth to power is not easy and I applaud your courage. May God give you the wisdom to speak from your hearts with compassion and strength in the coming days.

Thank you for demanding answers from George Bush. Worst of all - his actions have resulted in the deaths of innocent American soldiers and Iraqi civilians.

I hope more mothers join you. I admired the Russian mothers who went to Chechnya to get their sons from another senseless war. They said Nyet to Chechnya. I'm proud of you for saying No to Iraq and George Bush.

You were fabulous on Ed Schultz's radio show. I am truly inspired to hear someone speak from the heart and so frankly demand for the truth. Your dedication to your son's memory is so honorable. Thank you for exposing Bush's hypocrisy: his endless vacations while the nation is at war and his lack of sincere remorse for those who have fallen in this struggle. The simple act of wanting to meet with Bush has so brilliantly exposed the disconnect between the focus of this greedy administration and what the citizens want and need from the government for democracy to work at home. You are my hero and I am just sorry you have had to sacrifice so much.

Good For You!
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2005-08-08 22:12.
I just wanted to tell you that I admire what you are doing very much. I'm only 24 and still a student, so I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a child, but you've turned your grief into productive action that will hopefully save many other parents' children. I hope others will be inspired by your example as I have been and I hope your name will be in the history textbooks that my children read as a single individual who turned the tide of the war, the country, and the world. We're behind you!

You are an inspiration to us all, Mrs. Sheehan. If I had enough money to travel, I would be by your side demanding answers with you and the rest of the brave souls camped out in Crawford.

How that arrogant bastard that calls himself pResident can deny you an audience is just shameful! I hope he knows the world is watching.

My best to you and everyone else in Goldstar Families. Blessed be!

Cindy, you are a true American hero. :) Thank you so much for standing up for the truth and justice, and against the cancer in our government that are the Bush Administration and their followers. We need more voices like yours--you have more courage in your little finger than all of the Bush Administration's chickenhawks have in their entire cabal. Bless you for all you are doing.

Thank you for standing up and refusing to be ignored. After a day of dealing with the consequences of willful ignorance, it's really heartening to read about your efforts down in Crawford. Made my day.

If you get arrested, I'll be on the phone to try to help out.

Hi Cindy

Thanks for helping shine a light on the cowardice and callousness of George Bush! You've got the whole world paying attention.

I wish I could get away and join you in Crawford, but I know you've got great support there.

You have our families support, I wish I could send money but can't with the economy such as it is. Please no that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I wish I could join you in Crawford. Peace

Dear Mrs. Cindy Sheehan,

First, I am sorry for the loss of your son Casey and for the losses of the rest of the Gold Star Mothers. How this President Bush can sit inside his air conditioned ranch on vacation and totally ignore your request to meet with him and all along let you sit and bake in the sun along the road outside of his ranch is APPALLING ! President Bush can make time to take a Saudi Oil Prince by the hand ... literally ... and spend all of that time with him on his ranch, but he can't meet with a Gold Star Mother who has been camping outside of his ranch for days requesting to meet with him ? This is the "Compassionate Conservative" President ?

Where are our Democratic Senators and Representatives ? Each and every one of them should be there in Crawford, Texas right along side of you. The American people are tired of this President raping our country in both treasure and the environment and we are tired of our young people being sent and kept in Iraq to die for the War that was knowingly started on deliberate lies by President Bush/Cheney and the rest of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) made up of Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Bolton, Cheney, Libby and more ...

go to http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/EC20Ak07.html

All of us know that our country was deliberately lied into this War on Iraq and for our Democratic Senators and Representatives to go this long without uniting and holding President Bush/Cheney accountable is also APPALLING ! Our Democratic Senators and Representatives do have the power to unite and literally shut down the government if they want to and to put an end to this War in Iraq, bring our Troops home immediately, begin investigating the lies of the Bush Administration and then hold those criminal/liars accountable.

A message to our Democratic Senators and Representatives: If any one of you had a son or daughter actually fighting in Iraq and then were told that your son or daughter was killed in this War that was started on total lies, you damn well know that you could put a stop to it and that you would see it important enough to take action and do it. It's time to do more than just talk about it for the TV cameras and now actually get your butts on an airplane and down to Crawford, Texas to help Mrs. Cindy Sheehan and the rest of the Gold Star Families. Now get with it dammit !

Not one more soldier should have to die for Bush and Cheney's deliberate lie !

Thank you for standing up to this autrocity. It is about time someone did. You speak for the mass, we all feel this way and Thank you again. It is so sad you had to loose your son Casey this way, but maybe God has chosen you to defend all the mothers of these wonderful young men that have so needlessly died. Does George W. Bush have no conscience? His hands are dripping with the blood of thousands and yet he doesn't have the courage to meet with you. He is a coward of the worst sort.

All my best, Cindy.

Not that it means much but I can't get there from here in Alaska right now otherwise I'd be there right now. Keep up the fight, don't let that dog of a non-man/unelected fraud get you down. Kick him in his political capital.
I served, twice, in the Army and the coast guard but it was a different country that I served. Now is'nt a good time for service people. I am sorry at your loss of your son; I believe he is now happier than any of us can be here in this place of evil. But I'm sorry that he was taken from you.
When you see * tell him to get off the world. Tell him to take his punk ass little head and go die somewhere. Tell him...well you know better than any others the frustration that this pathetic sorry assed emotionally lame little monkey causes.

Again, I'm sorry for your son.

Anyone with any intellegence understands why you are doing what you are doing. Our hearts go out to you and your family. How anyone can defend this monster they call a president is unfathomable. We were told that Iraq was linked to 9/11 (a lie) and that they had WMDs (another lie), and yet our children are still dying over there. This administration changes the story at every turn, and their supporters keep swollowing it. The tide is beginning to turn, mostly because of people like you who won't be shut down or turned away. It's never easy to stand against such seemingly overwhelming forces, but you show tremendous strength in it's wake. God bless you.

I'm so sorry more people did not stand up and protest to try and stop this war before your son and so many others were sacraficed. But I think you have a real chance at getting some changes made. This could be the spark that ignites the movement necessary to end this horrible war. Hang in there!

I have no words that could ever heal the terrible pain of losing your son - all I can offer is my support, admiration and respect. I am a Brit and have been following your quest for answers for a while now and think you should know that people all over the world are thinking of you. Whatever Bush may try to convince the American people of, the world is not with him - we are with you.

You have integrity, strength and intelligence, three qualities I sincerely doubt President Bush is in possession of. And most importantly, you are right. He and his cronies should be ashamed at their threats to arrest you - if anyone is a threat to national security, it is those who try to silence the voices of reason.

Courage to speak up
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2005-08-08 18:33.
Dear Cindy:
I have followed with intense interest your courage and stamina in pursuing answers that all of us want. The Administration, led by the President, have lied to all of us and continue to do so. They must be stopped. I, too, have a son in the military and fortunately he has not been sent to Iraq but he was in the first war involving Iraq in 1991. Those of us with children in the military have our heart strings tugged every day when we read of more fallen soldiers. It is unbearable. I think you might mention to the President (if you get the chance) that he should be there leading his men into battle on the ground with the same protective gear they have. George Washington did, why not this George?

Best wishes to you and those who are at your side.

Hold on and hold out!
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2005-08-08 18:19.
Dear Cindy,
Don't give up, don't give in and don't settle for meeting with the toadies. You, like every other citizen, have a right to call your elected officals to account for their actions - as they serve only with the consent of the governed. You honor your son Casey by demanding answers of a man that heretofore has not been made to account for his actions, or inactions. I hope and pray for your safe return to California after you have had your conversation with Mr. Bush. I have left a message with the White House asking that the president meet with you, and if he cannot find 15 minutes within his five week vacation to do so, would he please tender his resignation.
I was able to honor your son, here in Sacramento, when the Americans Friends Service Committee set up the eyes wide open displayed his boots, along side over 150 pairs of boots representing the disproportionate losses in California alone. Sadly, I also honored William O'Day, who died early in the Iraq war. While I did not know O'Day the man, I will always remember him and his brother as little boys riding in the well of the shopping cart, pushed by his daddy in Santa Rosa. I thank you for your heroic efforts on behalf of the fallen and those who need to come home now.
I wish you peace and strength.

Cindy, don't despair - we're with you. All of you people out there - get off your butts and start picketing. There's a group of us that picket a busy "shoppers paradise" intersection EVERY SINGLE SATURDAY. It doesn't take any money - get your own sign and man the four corners. A good sign can say, "Support our Troops--Bring them Home Now" Every week, our support grows. DO it - DO NOT BE EMBARRASSED - it's better than beating your head against a wall and if it MAKES EVEN ONE APATHETIC PERSON DRIVING BY, THINK ABOUT THAT FILTHY WAR, IT'S WORTH IT!!

Using the powerful tool of your disbelief

I was struck at how powerful your simple statements of disbelief were when you were talking to Wolf Blitzer. They gave you the party line, you disbelieve it. They tell you it is a noble cause, you don't believe it. How simple and powerful, and how it takes away their power to manipulate you. If only more Americans would wake up to this.

Thank you so much. I'm so sorry about your son.

I am the mother of a soldier. He is somewhere in Iraq. His exact location & mission is one big Army secret. This is NOT what he joined the National Guard to do! My heart goes out to you over the loss of your son. I can only pray by the grace of God that mine will come home to me safely. I have said from the beginning of this nightmare that if sonething were to happen to my child over there that the blame would lie on Bush's head. I do not call him my president. It was for his own personal, selfish, & egotistical reasons that we are there now. I want you to know that I support you & will pray that you have your "day in court" with the SOB who has led our country into this mess & cost so many lives. I am sorry for the circumstances that have put you where your at today but God Bless you for standing up & speaking out for us.

Maybe some people who have supported this war but have not had to make any sacrifices will have a change of mind about this war. Whatever becomes of your fight to find answers, one thing is for sure. Women lead the way
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2005-08-08 08:47.
At the very beginning of the women's rights movement, it was also an anti-war movement because only women can really appreciate the horrible waste of life in wars started by men - the senseless deaths of their children in Pharaoh's army. This is the right message, delivered at the right time, in the right way, by the right person. Bush should be trembling in his cowboy boots, but he's probably too stupid to realize what is happening.

Your high and mighty status and your fawning courtiers (and fawning media) will not help you escape reality now, Mr. President. Neither will your twistings of the truth and your outright lies!

Hey Cindy, I'd just like to say that you have earned the respect and admiration of the anarchist community. We all respect you and what you are doing to stop this murderer from claiming any more lives. If the Secret Service or any organization tries to attack you, feel free to put out the call for a black bloc.

Dear Mrs. Sheehan or may I call you Cindy,
I am a mother. I cry for what you are going through. I want to be there with you. You are an American hero.
A story goes that once a man approached w and told him that he didn't like some of his ideas, to which the idiot w replied "Who cares what you think."
That's what you are up against. But I believe that you will conquer him by showing that he is not the compassionate, likable person that the right wing media portrays him as.
Please don't lose hope. There are millions of people all around the country who are with you in spirit and of course Casey.
I am working on doing something here in Knoxville where I now live. I'll keep you informed.

With affection,
Marion Powell

CINDY IS NO HERO! AND niether will YOU be! There are NOT millions of people standing behind Cindy! She is as unpatriotic as you are! She isn't even American enough to stand up for the death of an American soldier; hello! her own son!!!!! She is a complete oxymoron!!! You two and all your hypocritical tactics are truly playing for the al-Queda team.... Go join up, you're in the wrong country!

you are a dumbfuck

Now George, if you can't meet with her , then don't call her names.

We all know she's smarter than you.

Cindy,

You are so brave to stand up to the bush bs crime family. Someone has to!!! The Dems are all running scared in Washignton to speak up! We need you!!! YOU ARE A PATRIOT!! The bushies have fed America lies & bs for too long now!! Bush is a tough talking, deep down coward who lacks the guts & brains to face you. He is an empty suit & hides behind his evil & nefarious "handlers." Remember: He can't think without them.

Ask him if why he won't send glamour queens babs & jenna to his his "nobel cause" bloody mess fiasco of a Vietnam II!

BUSH: unfit to command! Too trecherous & deceptive to EVER be trusted!!!!! America will ALWAYS suffer under the neo-CONS rule!!! This much is true!

Fight the good fight Cindy!!! WE LOVE YOU!!! YOU ARE SO BRAVE!!! Your son would be SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!

PEACE to everyone,

GI Joe

Why do you keep saying that Bush should send his kids over there...

CINDY DID NOT SEND HER KID ANYWHERE!!!!... Her son REENLISTED just to be with his unit over in Iraq. IT WAS HIS CHOICE!!!! HIS CHOICE. NOT his cowardly mothers choice. HE understood why this country is free. HE made the choice.

HE made the choice to give his life for his country.

We will not CONTINUE to be free if we have misguided presidents leading us into poorly orchestrated wars that do nothing but stir up a hornets' nests of anger and spread injustice. We are doing just what they want. We are looking like the devils in their eyes! We're attacking the wrong people and making fools of ourselves and causing the whole Islamic world to coalesce around anti-American jihad! Wake up!!! Iraq did NOT attack us at 911. Everyone knows that. How smart is it to go off and just attack the wrong country for revenge. How great is a military leader who causes his enemies to join forces and causes long-held allies to reject us? How smart is that?

You've been listening to war mongers for too many years. It's the same excuse they use for each and every war. And to justify the lousy justifications for battle. You do remember Vietnam, right? Or, perhaps you're too young to know the real cost.

Support our troops -- bring them home.

Its so easy to cut and run isn't it?

Maybe if we just sent all the terrorists and dictators around the world some flowers and a card they would all be good! They would decide to embrace democracy and stop all the abuses of their people! Hooray for flowers! War sucks!

Amen to that!

Thanks you SO much! Someone finally inderstands that the soldier signs the papers his or her own self, not Mommy and Daddy! Thank God for these people that help keep our country free!

Now that's what I'm talking about! There are others out there that know the deal! Well said!

firefighters sign on to fight fires too but if they die because the fire was set by an arsonist who is to blame. the firefighter or the arsonist! if you have trouble with thwe answer get back to me. i can answer it for you.-kim

You guys are GREAT! You are really making a difference.

Bush "can run but he can't hide"! ... from Cindy

A good statement for a T-shirt or chant.
Remember when Bush was saying that about Saddam?
Now you are smacking Bush in the face with his own words!

Cindy,
Please know that I've been thinking of you all often.
With much love and prayers,

Cindy,
Way to go Cindy! I have never lost a family member to an unjust war so I can only imagine what the ordeal must be like for you and your family. I did have a friend from high school get killed when we invaded Afghanistan post 9-11 and that was enough. I don't have any fancy words or elegants speeches for you. All I can say is that I so admire you for refusing to hide in a quiet corner, paralyzed by pain. I will be thinking of you and all of the other people who have paid the ultimate price. More importantly, I will expend the effort to teach my sons to be be upstanding and decent people. In my family, Bush and his cronies will set the standard for how not to behave. I wish you all the best. Ginger Beason

Cindy Sheehan, when you get a bumper sticker that says "Cindy Sheehan is Casey's Mom-not your "MOM" Mr. Bush" I want one.

Her son made his own choice. She obviously didn't have much to say about it. She's making a complete ASS out of herself. The problem is (those who didn't serve) can't comprehend this.

Petrodollar Warfare: Dollars, Euros and the Upcoming Iranian Oil Bourse

PS> The American Public won't know this unless they know how the ecomonics of the petrodollar work. You would have to WORK in the stockmarket to have great knowledge of the SADDAM currency switch. When SADDAM switched from selling OIL from dollars into EUROS!.......Right after BUSH was elected. The when BUSH puppets regained CONTROL of IRAQ he BUSH had his Puppets SWITCH the sale of OIL back to the dollar from the euro. Very first shipment out of iraq was does in dollars since the invasion. SADDAM tried like hell to get other countries to DUMP the world reserve currency the dollar for EUROS. This would place usa in a great recession. Who is next on the currency desk IRAN. Must be time to leave iraq for iran.

Dear Mrs. Sheehan,

I have been following your attempt to meet with Bush and demand answers from him about why your son was killed. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you are doing and tell you that I feel strongly that you are doing it for all of us. Thank you so much for your courage and your outrage. I believe that your actions in Crawford will go down in history and that your name and your son's will be remembered for many years to come. There is nothing more powerful than a mother's love and Bush doesn't stand a chance against it.

I am the mother of 3 children. I have a daughter who is 7 years old, a son who is 5 and another son who is nearly 2. For some reason, when I read about your son Casey and when I think of what happened to you, I think of my five year old son. Because I have him I know who Casey was. I know what a mother's love for her son is. My love for him is so great already, I cannot hardly fathom what it will be like after 20 more years of watching him grow and develop into a young man. And it makes me literally sick to think of what happened to your son happening to him. Bush had no more right to take your son's life than he does to take mine. God damn him for what he has done.

My only criteria for a just war is my own children. If there is a cause so noble that I would be willing to send my children to die in it, only then will I know it is a just cause. If it is not a good enough cause for my children to die then it is not good enough for anyone else's children to die. This war is a lie and a travesty. It is a cynical exercise to line the pockets of evil men and the fact that your son and nearly 2000 other beautiful young sons and daughters have died for this lie is tragic beyond description.

I am with you in spirit and am so grateful to you for your efforts on behalf of all of our children.

Yours truly,

Another mother for peace

Dear Cindy, I just want to say that even in Luxembourg (Europe), we are greatly concerned with this stupid war and fell sorry for the
many many useless deaths encontered on both sides, all because some
big wheels telling monstruous lies. Keep on the siege and please accept my heartfelt thoughts.

May God Bless you Cindy Sheehan and may your son Rest in Peace!!

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. But, I'm afraid you are letting people like Michael Moore use you to push their own agenda. Your son died for our country. People like Michael Moore hate our country and what we stand for. I am from a military family and would be horrified to lose one of our own. But, the war is something that must happen in order for us to be safe for years to come. We are safer in this country with the terrorists fighting our forces over there. We are slowly but surely destroying the terrorists' world. And your protest only hurts the morale of the military by destroying the support of the people in the US. We can't let that support wane and have another Vietnam. We need to stand with the President and our soldiers in our fight vs. terrorism. People forget about 9/11 too quickly. What we've done since is the reason we haven't been hit again and the continued fight around the world is something that has to be done. You may not think that now, but you will realize it in the years to come when it all shapes out.
Thank you.

We are not destroying the terrorists world in Iraq. We have made Iraq the world's biggest terrorist training ground. Do you not understand? Wake up. There were no Iraqi hijackers on 9/11. There was no AlQaeda presence in Iraq prior to Bush's war. Even our own CIA admits that. Bush has made us far less safe in every way and he is killing our children for his lies. Wake up Brian. It's not about Michael Moore it's about you and everyone else who supports killing young American men and women for oil and profit and power.

What a bunch of ridiculous left wing crap.

Dip shit, at least they are all converging in Iraq vs. spreading out and thining everywhere....I would love it if they all congragated to Iraq...at least we know where they are. Al Wako's were training in Iraq and have links to Sadam who sheltered them. READ 911 Commission even though that is full of some good crap.

Our intel did not share Able Danger idiot. ...oh and now you trust the intel from the CIA ? But didn;'t that same intel groups also support WMD in Iraq ? YOU R A HYPOCRIT ...proven right there. You using selective intel. You are picking out what you want and ignoring what you want....GROW UP !

We do not care about MM....only McDonalds does !

As soon as the presiden sends young men and women into battle for unjust purposes then we have another Vietnam. The idea that we, the friends and family of servicemen and women or just greatful citizens, must blindly support our president while he, the fortunate son that he is, sends young men and women to die for his wars of domination and greed is a totalitarian idea that we should not subscribe to. Now, let's raise the level of this thread a little, and show some respect.

Cindy, I just wanted to let you know, I can't be in Texas with you, but I'm supporting you to the end. The end be it you talk to Bush or his impeachment, I'm with you from Iowa and my family in Illinios.
Hold them accountable!

Hi Cindy,
I hope you're aware that there are many many people who think you're courageous. You have stood your groud with grace and dignity in the face of absurd and baseless criticism from right wing extremists. I believe most people recognize them for what they are. You're the opposite of them: You're sincere and authentic.
Stay with it, Cindy! We're behind you all the way!
All best,
John

This website is like a brainwashing center for liberal conspiracy theories. The war for oil? Haven't heard that one in a while. A theory that has been so disproved that even most wacked liberals have abandoned it. And Iraq is a battleground to fight terrorsits, not a training ground for them. And you're correct, none of the 9/11 terrorists were Iraqi. Most were Saudi. So, should we invade them? What if they were American Isalmists? Would we invade our own country? Come on! That is absolutely idiotic. We need to take the fight to the countries that harbor and support terrorism and Iraq is #2 after Afghanistan. People need to stop believing the liberal media and get their own minds. War is not good. But, sometimes war is what needs to be done to protect ourselves. It seems as if some of you would rather have innocent people being killed on our own soil than having our VOLUNTEER forces do so overseas. Get a grip.

And which one of the many lies that Bush has told about the reasons to invade Iraq do you believe? Get your facts straight, Brian.

Bin Laden? Afganistan? Seeking justice from the leader of the terrorists that attacked us? Absolutely, but the guy wasn't in Iraq, wasn't harbored by Saddam either. And, guess what, terrorists weren't attacking anyone there until we invaded them. Your #2 ranking never existed before we attacked them.

I'm sure the Brits would beg to differ with your assessment that "sometimes war is what needs to be done to protect ourselves." (And how many Iraqi's did you say attacked us?) "It seems as if some of you would rather have innocent people being killed on our own soil". No, Brian. All we are saying is that the current policy isn't working, was never going to, never will. A different strategy is needed. Attacking a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 isn't the correct response to those responsible for attacking us.

BRIAN.........
I'm not blue or red..BUT A CURRENCY TRADER.

You better .........google up
CURRENCY WAR with IRAQ.

US DOLLAR WAS (note past tense) the world reserve currency...not anymore! Look how many countries have DUMPED the DOLLAR. How close will the USA come to DEFAULT? Watch Uncle Alan's hands and the interest rate. Smell the inflation in your grocery bill over the past 4 years? EUROS verses the dollar. Wait till IRAN opens their new stock exchange for oil sales next year.............oops cat is out of the bag......note NO usa media is reporting this, but outside the USA foreign currency traders know exactly what is going on.

SADDAM switched how IRAQ oil was to be sold 11/2000 from dollar to euro.
Before the first barrel SHIPPED out of IRAQ last year the currency was switch back to dollars...need some refineries (alot of those under new contracts) check jobs in IRAQ.......and at the rate the dollar is falling we might ALL be over in IRAQ OR IRAN next year working in those refineries.
Remember the news recently on the US refineries...we don't have the refineries we need.
a currency trader
do I hear $ 110. a barrel for gas............you betcha

(Would someone send me confirmation that this post actually was distributed? I've tried 3 times before and each time it disappears about 30 minutes after an apparently successful post? Thanks.)

Dear Cindy,

First of all, my condolences for your loss. Now my congratulations on your accomplishment! You have focused the nation's attention on a question this country's political leadership and "free" press were either too afraid or to co-opted to ask. Since the court-appointed "President" and the imbecile wing of America's ruling class first began to talk about their plans to "shock and awe" Iraq into becoming an American province, I have been looking for the answer to why a country like ours, which purports to be founded on principles of respect for human life, would undertake such an enterprise.

There can by now be little question that a big part of the answer is oil. If this were all there was to it, at least a straight-forward alternative to the deaths of so many Americans like your son and so many more Iraqis would present itself. Unfortunately, the answer appears to be more complicated and subtle. Cheap oil does more than just power the Hummers of those patriots who sport “Support Our Troops

William Engdahl, William Clark

Cindy,
You are what America cherishes, free speech! Thank you for "blowing in the wind" concerning the folly of American policy in Iraq. Keep standing and shouting knowing there are many behind you.

Cindy, I'm a citizen of a foreign nation, a Scot to be precise, but I have become fascinated by your struggle to bring out the truth. Those who would belittle your life and that of your son's will pay a bitter price. Whatever else your son gave his life for, it was not for nothing. You are making his life and death mean something much deeper than probably he could ever have imagined. Because of your efforts, and despite the best efforts of those who would stop you, you and Casey are exposing the lies which took him from you. You are more dangerous to those who hold the strings of power than any terrorits or foreign power. Why? Because you will not bend. I am proud to be a citizen of your world.

I also agree that she is making a proud name for herself and her son. She is a marytr and she should do what she belives and others should not try to discourage her.
Imagine standin gin the prescense of the president of the US and being smoothed talked. Sheesh! Even I would be taken in by that ...but just for a little while..
Then I would do what Cindy is doing.
YOU GO CINDY! WE ARE ALL HERE WITH YOU....holding the light of Hope in our hearts for you.

THE REPORTER of Vacaville, CA published an account of Cindy Sheehan's visit with the president at Fort Lewis near Seattle on June 24, 2004:

"'I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis,' Cindy said after their meeting. 'I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith.'

"The meeting didn't last long, but in their time with Bush, Cindy spoke about Casey and asked the president to make her son's sacrifice count for something. They also spoke of their faith.

"The trip had one benefit that none of the Sheehans expected.

"For a moment, life returned to the way it was before Casey died. They laughed, joked and bickered playfully as they briefly toured Seattle.

For the first time in 11 weeks, they felt whole again.

"'That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together,' Cindy said."

What do you hope to accomplish with a second visit, Cindy?

Thank you!!!!!!!!!
She is ruining her son's god name who died for us!

She's standing up for what she believes in.

she's a two-bit activist who is using her son's blood for shallow political gain.

She keeps saying she just wants to meet with Bush. Well, whe already met with Bush and had nothing but nice things to say about him. That was then. Today she's figured out a way to use her son's death to cash in on her 15 minutes of fame.

I wonder if her son shares her hatred of Bush. She has the right to speak what she wants, but if her words do not echo her son's sentiments, if he would not support what she's doing, then she is cheapening his sacrifice.

Cindy, the only person who has cheapened your son's sacrifice is the President by creating this war in the first place. (And please don't tell me 9/11 started the war; that is worse than naive; it's dishonest.) I'm sorry you have to put up with the cliched bile of Mr. Keillor and company, but, as C.S. Lewis reminded us once, we are all living in Enemy territory. But fortunately there are people like you to spearhead the resistance.

Cindy,
I wholeheartedly support what you are doing!

I was planning to leave for Crawford tomorrow to be with you but my son called this morning to say he'd be home (at a hospital close enough for me to visit) sometime this weekend. He was wounded in an IED incident in Iraq three weeks ago. This is his second tour in Iraq. As a Marine and a team leader, this is the second IED explosion he has been involved in. He has lost two of his men and had three others maimed (lost limbs) in the combined incidents.

I don't have an answer as to why he has been spared while so many others have not. I do know how close I have come to feeling the terrible loss that you have felt, do feel, will always feel.

Knowing from the start this war was wrong I have felt the helplessness and frustration that so many others feel. You have inspired new hope that we as individuals can do something to bring this insanity to an end. Thank you. I'll be there as soon as I can.

Can you not see your son's selfless devotion to this country. How can you go off and support her when your son continues to do tours (voluntaraly) in Iraq. Your slapping him in the face.

You may want to ask this "Bible believer" to explain how wise he was to ignore this biblical advice that I wrote to him before the war, if he develops the grit to go out and see you. But I don't expect that, because those who cultivate cowardice in others do so because they believe in its power, being cowards themselves:

http://home.earthlink.net/%7Eattwoods/bush.html

March 5, 2003

Dear Mr. President,

I have been reading the Newsweek article about you, and in view of other evidence, its assertion that you take the Bible seriously seems right, and so I will proceed on that assumption.

One most disturbing point made in the article, abundantly confirmed by your public behavior, is your abounding confidence in your own hunches and feelings. The Bible flatly states, "He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered" (Proverbs 28:26). Clearly then, to walk wisely is not to trust in our own hearts but to remember that "the way of a fool is right in his own eyes." Anyone taking the Bible seriously - indeed, anyone looking around himself and suspecting that he might be like other people - will recognize that this is true, and live accordingly.

Related to this is your unrestrained self-righteousness. Ever since 9/11/2001, you have consistently flattered yourself and the American people that all this is due to the iniquities of others and that America is essentially without sin in the matter. In this, of course, you repudiate not only the witness of Scripture but even the foundations of American political thought, which rightly states in Federalist #10 that no man may judge rightly in his own cause. The way to determine whether American wickedness is or is not a factor is to measure ourselves against the witness of Scripture, not to boldly assert our own righteousness, concerning which the Bible says, "The wicked man shows a bold face" (Proverbs 21:29). Does "swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger" (James 1:19) in any way describe you?

Whether you want to admit it or not, the United States has carried out mass murder by embargo against the civilian population of Iraq. God knows what has taken place, and what God knows is what counts, not how you or anyone else cares to spin it. That the American people have done a good job of concealing the truth from themselves does not silence the cry of the innocent blood, which goes up to God like the blood of Abel - and God does not shut his ears to the cry of innocent blood, no matter who sheds it and no matter what excuses are offered. Indeed why should this surprise anyone? A nation that slaughters millions of its own children in its abortion clinics - should we expect it to take greater care with the lives of other children?

Through this embargo, and by supporting brutal dictatorships all over the world in pursuit of its aims, has not the United States afflicted widows and orphans? Does God accept excuses or rationalizations for doing so? Hear what Moses says, in Exodus 22:22-24:

"You shall not afflict ANY widow or fatherless child. If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry; and my wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows and your children fatherless."

Instead of showing any contrition whatever, and calling your people to humility, as Abraham Lincoln did in his second Inaugural Address, you have hardened both your heart and theirs to assert your own righteousness and theirs. In all this, as you denounce the wickedness of others and assert your own righteousness, you make God a liar and walk in darkness as John the apostle declares in 1 John 1:8-10:

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and the truth is not in us."

As though all this is a light thing, you claim for a nation such as this a mandate to banish evil from the world, although Jesus said, "You hypocrite, first remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." This warning and many others like it seem altogether lost on you, as does a parable Jesus spoke to some who trust in themselves that they are righteous and despise others (Luke 18:9-14). If you and your people do not "trust in themselves that they are righteous and despise others," have such people existed at any time from the foundation of the world?

Indeed, the religion of those who advise you is strikingly similar to that of the Pharisees in the gospels - full of zeal for God and desire to do good, combined with utter blindness to doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with your God, to the point where unbelievers are horrified by your heartless conniving at the cruelest oppression in Palestine and your plans to lightly use nuclear weapons and otherwise slaughter large numbers of innocent civilians in pursuit of your utopian visions. Only such religion can so sear men's consciences that they can do such things and count themselves virtuous. Thus even the whores and tax collectors get into the kingdom of God before such people, just as Jesus said.

Indeed, any man or nation that appoints itself a savior of the world, as we see in your public statements, is arrogating to himself a position that God has already given to His Anointed. Anyone who asserts such a right is certainly exalting himself and insuring that God will abase him (Luke 14:7-11) - and no amount of terrifying military or economic power will ultimately overturn God's decree. To exalt yourself in this way is simply to become an antichrist, an enemy of God in the most fundamental way, and God promises that all who act like this will be abased.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church puts it quite well in paragraphs 675-676:

"The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh. The Antichrist's deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism, especially the 'intrinsically perverse' political form of a secular messianism."

Most certainly, not only in your assertions 18 months ago that you were going to rid the world of evil, but in your big plans for Iraq and for the Middle East in general, you have preached and practiced a secular messianism - America the savior of the world. In practice, as the whole world sees, this means America "the hammer of the whole earth" (Jeremiah 50:23), and the Bible does not promise good things at the end of that road.

The tree, as Jesus said, is known by its fruit. The fundamental wickedness of your intended project in Iraq is evident in the villainy you have resorted to in the entire endeavor. Consider:

You have openly before the world relied on bullying, extortion, bribes and threats to induce others to support or condone your plans. Truly, you and your servants do fulfill what is written, ". . . in whose hand is a sinister scheme, and whose right hand is full of bribes" (Psalm 26:10).

You and your servants have put your trust in slander and deceit, falsely claiming that the Iraqi regime has worked with
al-Qa'eda even when your own intelligence agencies know better. Saddam Hussein is certainly not Jesus Christ, but in the way you have persistently sought false testimony against him, without even being able to make your false witnesses agree, you certainly remind the world of those who treated Jesus that way. Apparently you think that "you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" does not apply to Saddam Hussein because he is a bad guy, but we never want to bear false witness against our neighbors unless we have determined that they are bad guys. Bad guys, then, are the only neighbors the commandment is talking about - and you flout it daily.

You have nurtured cowardice in men and relied upon it at every point to carry out your plans. You have bullied the United Nations, threatening to render it irrelevant by ignoring it, although in fact it will be most irrelevant if it rubber stamps your plans contrary to its charter. You have bullied small nations, especially the Eastern Europeans, threatening them with economic retaliation if their governments do not support you against the will of their peoples. You have bullied the Turks, insulting them beyond endurance, as you have seen. You have bullied our Congress, relying on the cowardice of our representatives to keep them in line. You have nurtured unjustified fears in the American people, deceiving them into thinking that Iraq sponsors terrorism and presents a threat to the United States, when you know very well that it does not - indeed, if Iraq really could hurt us, you would treat them more politely, as you do others who actually have nuclear bombs they can use.

Indeed, your project relies so far on cowardice that only cowardice all around will enable it to go forward. If anyone plays the man, you will be stopped in your tracks. If the American people stop and think, instead of yielding to the irrational fears you have cultivated in them to their shame, you will be stopped. If the Congress actually remembers its constitutional duties, you will be stopped. If the Pope puts his body where his mouth is and goes to Baghdad, you will be stopped. If the inspectors refuse to leave and even a few of the nations opposing you send peacekeepers to accompany them, you will be stopped.

To use and rely on the cowardice of others is to build on sand, because cowardice is evil, and is indeed at the root of all evil, just as courage is at the foundation of all virtue. The coward not only flees where no one pursues, he lashes out before anyone harms him - and you have built this attribute of cowardice into your National Security Strategy, wholly against the words of your "favorite philosopher" Jesus Christ in Matthew 5 and elsewhere. To make use of anyone's cowardice is to make a covenant with hell, an agreement with death - it is a contract with Satan. All that have made this deal have eventually come to grief, and you too, if you persist in this course, must certainly be caught in your own craftiness, just as it is written (Job 5:12-13, 1 Corinthians 3:19).

In view of the Bible's witness to how far you have indebted yourself to evil, I bring to your notice Revelation 6:2-8, the opening of the first four seals, keeping in mind that in a scroll sealed with multiple seals the opening of one seal is what leads to the opening of the next. The first is a conqueror on a white horse with a bow - reminding us of the real conqueror on the white horse in Revelation 19. You are riding off to conquer on the support of the people who bear the name of Jesus - American "Christians" who trust in the cruise missiles and depleted uranium of man - with the only military in world history to have won a war entirely with air power, with the bow only, and not the sword. And your project of conquest will certainly arouse terrorism, peace taken from the earth so that men kill one another - and that's the second seal. If that happens, the economic disasters described in the next two seals will certainly follow.

Now it would be presumptuous to suppose that these are in fact being fulfilled in your case. But it would be reckless madness to see how well the shoe fits and not take care. At the very least, such a resemblance warns you what spirit you are of. As we know, not knowing what spirit we are of has happened to better men than either of us (Luke 9:54-56). And as in your case, those men thought they were serving God by wanting to kill people with fire from the sky.

Yours,

Peter Attwood

Our military is still a voluntary commitment. Sometimes that commitment involves the ultimate sacrifice— their lives— and the do it proudly. The men and women who over the years have given their lives for this country are the reason people like Cindy Sheehan can wake up each day in a life of freedom and privilege. Her son's memory should be honored along with all of the others who have given their lives so that we may live in the greatest country on earth.

Yes, they did volunteer but they didn't volunteer to die for a lie. This is not an honorable war and you are kidding yourself if you think so. The people in the military depend on their commander in chief to make wise decisions. Bush lied, he gave us deceptive information, he scared us into going into Iraq. That is plain wrong. So don't give us this crap about volunteering. They volunteered to defend this country, not to defend Bush and his goon buddies business interests. By the way, what sacrifices have you made to support our troops? Hmmmmmmmmm?
