Wisconsin Democratic Party Votes to Impeach Bush

State Dems: Impeach Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld too
The Capital Times
By David Callender, June 13, 2005

Wisconsin Democrats are calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

Loyalists at this weekend's state party convention in Oshkosh passed a resolution calling for Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings against the three officials for their role in the war in Iraq.

The resolution contends that the administration "lied or misled" the United Nations, Congress, and the American public about the justification for the war. It cites the so-called "Downing Street memo" from British Prime Minister Tony Blair's government, as well as reports from U.N. weapons inspectors as evidence of widespread deception.

"Democrats, not only in Wisconsin but throughout the U.S., have been outraged by what we believe has been a clear cover-up of why the U.S. went into Iraq," said newly elected state party Chairman Joe Wineke.

Wineke said the resolution expresses the "the sense of frustration that Democrats in Wisconsin have over fighting a war for the wrong reasons."

Wisconsin Democrats are not the first to pass such a resolution.

The Nevada state party passed a similar resolution calling for Bush's ouster last year. And both the state and national Green Party, as well as former Green Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader, have called for Bush's impeachment because of his handling of the war in Iraq.

But with both houses of Congress in Republican hands, the resolution will not likely result in any congressional action, said Charles Franklin, a professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

"It's the sort of thing you might imagine spreads among opposition parties, but it is so far from the political reality of anything that could happen in Washington that it makes your party look a little ridiculous," he said.

What's more, he added, even if the House of Representatives began impeachment proceedings against the president and vice president, "I don't think you can impeach the secretary of defense."

Question for you: I am all for impeachment but it seems to me and many others of my friend that because he has a majority in the house and senate it is a hard thing to do, and some of the democrats do not want to stand up to his regime, it seems like an impossible task, the question is it there any possibility that we can impeach him, I would like to think so but it is hard for me to believe it will happen.

Thank you, Wisconsin Democrats, for joining Nevada Dems and the Green Party in calling for impeachment.

I hope your action will spur others to take a similarly courageous stand.

1. Wisconsin Dems: YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Professor Franklin said: "It's the sort of thing you might imagine spreads among opposition parties, but it is so far from the political reality of anything that could happen in Washington that it makes your party look a little ridiculous."

OH, REALLY? You know, prof, there are growing numbers of people who show admiration and respect for people and groups who HAVE A SPINE AND SHOW IT! You're evidently a long-time poli-sci insider who titters at the little people who take grassroots ACTION!

3. Professor Franklin said: "I don't think you can impeach the secretary of defense." Hmmm...perhaps you should have stopped after the first three words in that sentence. Note that William W. Belknap, U.S. Secretary of War, was impeached on August 1, 1876. Perhaps the law has changed since then, such that Cabinet members are no longer impeachable, BUT I REALLY DOUBT IT! And you're a poli-sci prof? I pity your poor students!

NOT JUST IMPEACH.... HAVE A CRIMINAL TRIAL. finish off where Nuremburg 1947 stopped. Many Many of these people have made profits from this bloodshed, don't let them get away with it. This is AMERICA and we will face the TRUTH, not make it up as we need to.

What more can this Administration Destroy.... ALOT... everyday they control more and more of our courts and they make the laws as they see fit. Everyday there is more mind control through the press and other media. And we will forget it all ever happened or lower our standards to be what they want us to be.

Everyday they SHAME us around the world and continue to lower our living standards at home. They won't drink the water from the tap, or work for low wages, or send there childern to WAR.

This is a FOOLS WAY of planning the future where only the strong survive. and a CRIMINAL ACT against our childern with the money they have stolen already.

The Bussiness of WAR has PROFITS, where did they go, where is the missing Billions, Why did they let so many Poppys grow. NARCONON thats why, and the growing pain and shame for Europe.

It's just Bussiness to them, like ENRON, the S and L's, Hailburton, Bush Bank, Kellog Brown and Root, and so many many more.

But then again where will we find the Honest Judges and Lawyers to handle it. Like the grownig insults the RIGHT WINGS do like the walking out of the Patroit Act ReAuthorizing hearing and LAUGHING at the door as they were leaving. Shows the pure contempt for our AMERICAN SYSTEM OF LAWS AND RIGHTS of all the people.

Kudos and thanks to those in Wisconsin who have called for impeachment. We can't go on without the truth.
