But, if the censure passes, wouldn't that say that enough people are in agreement to justify impeachment? Maybe it's a way to draw a few more republicans into the light?
They may feel safe going along with censure and stating that, yes, these things were done. After it passes, it would stand as justification in and of itself for pursuing impeachment wouldn't it?
It doesn't have to end with censure, they wouldn't be "pleading to a lesser crime", it would just be the beginning of what is done and at least it's something instead of sitting back not doing anything.
Censure could be just the beginning and it could culminate in impeachment (wishful thinking)
