Movement Points To I-35 As 'Holy Highway'

WCCO A growing number of evangelical Christians around the world are convinced that Interstate 35 is a holy highway. The movement, which began in Texas where the interstate begins, has some strong local supporters in Minnesota.
This group is convinced the Interstate 35W bridge collapse was a sign from above. They say the source is the Bible verse from Isaiah 35. It says: "A highway will be there, a roadway, and it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it. "
Redeeming Love Church in Maplewood was one of a number of churches all along the Interstate 35 corridor that hosted a Holy Highway prayer event that lasted 35 days and wrapped up just last weekend.
Many believers are convinced that the collapse of the bridge on Interstate 35W was a sign from God that more prayer is needed across the nation.
"To me it represents so many peoples lives where with things that were once secure to them have all of a sudden collapsed. People who have lost jobs people who have lost homes our cities have been struggling," said Pastor Mike Smith of Redeeming Love Church.
This movement is actually about two years old. It's getting attention now because believers just wrapped up the 35 days of prayer in communities all along the highway.

Although prayer is good, prayer alone isn't going to reverse America's downward spiral into a new "Dark Age".
It must take concerted action on the part of Congress to oust the architect of the "New Dark Age" -- Richard B. Cheney, Vice-President of the U.S. -- from office, along with his pathetic puppet, George W. Bush. Our cities are struggling because jobs are being sent overseas and the tax base which they depend on is drying up. All fifty states are in some form of bankruptcy, millions of Americans face the prospect of losing their homes because they can't pay the mortgage, while too many of our youth see no future for themselves and drown themselves in a sea of violent videogames which spur some (like that young man in Omaha yesterday) to take their rage, anger and pessimism out on others with a hail of bullets.
The collapse of the bridge on Interstate 35W was a sign all right ... a sign of just how neglectful we've become when it comes to maintaining and improving our nation's infrastructure. We've spent too much of our national treasure funding an illegal, unjust war at the expense of infrastruycture improvements, and we're paying the price for our neglect.
If God is giving us a sign, it's a very clear one -- get rid of Dick Cheney, before he plunges this planet into a Dark Age which may be impossible to recover from.
