To Nancy With All Due Respect

Dear Nancy. Cindy asked me to write you a letter and promised she would deliver it. So I picture the two of you in your home over tea as you peruse this and a four-foot stack of similar missives, and I hope mine catches your eye, and I hope there are no more of those annoying poor people out front, or that you're able to have them arrested quickly and quietly.
I know that there is good in you, Nancy, and I know that you are extremely smart. I can tell by the skill with which you've hidden from us that aforementioned good. But I'm concerned about how you will be remembered in history. Specifically, I'm concerned that you may not be remembered at all. If you were the leader who ended the wars, made peace, and impeached criminals, you would be remembered and quite possibly elected president some day. Attempting to impeach a president for an illegal war seemed to work pretty well for Congressman Lincoln.
If you plan to continue, instead, down the present course, then I feel obliged to let you in on a little secret: It won't be remembered as your war. If the planet survives and the occupation of Iraq is glorified with statues, none of them will be of you. And, as for your historic act of removing impeachment from the Constitution, the republic won't survive it, and neither will any memory of the Constitution. So there will be no history of your having ended it. Even if the rest of us are spared nuclear holocaust and global warming, your memory will, I'm afraid, be pretty well lost.
I'm sorry that you feel you have no good choices. I'm sorry that the media scares you so much. I'm sorry that your kids had to grow up with the name Hairy. But I think there is a pretty good option still open to you. Pretending you have other things to do won't work. After a year, the public now understands that any good bills on any issues will be vetoed, and that the way to end the occupation of Iraq is not to pretend to try to pass bills, but to refuse to pass any more bills.
Remember when you said that we should elect Democrats in 2006 so that you would have the power of subpoena? Well, you don't. Bush, Cheney, and gang have simply refused to comply. Remember when you said that your top priority was ending the occupation of Iraq? I'd hate to be any lower down on that list. Nancy, I've gone to rallies around this country and other countries and asked crowds if they can name the woman responsible for continuing to fund the occupation and for refusing to impeach. Each time, the shouts come: PE-LO-SEE
That's what you'll be remembered as, if you're lucky.
In contrast, the woman delivering this letter to you has withstood two years of full frontal corporate media assault and walked away smiling. If you grow a spine, I'm sure she'll be glad to give you tips on how to handle the corporate media. She is loved by many, hated by a few, and universally understood to say what she thinks. Cindy lost her son in the war you keep funding, the war that killed more Iraqis and Americans during your first year in power than in any previous year, the war that killed 9 Americans in the past two days. Your arms are dripping in blood up to the shoulders, Nancy.
You think Cindy is no threat to your seat in Congress. But you've only had one year so far to give Congress a record disapproval rating. You've got a whole year ahead of you. You can be smart, Nancy, and let the Cheney impeachment hearings begin. Or you can make the same move that your Party made during Iran Contra: avoid impeachment, avoid responsibility, allow further transfer of power to the White House, and lose the next elections. And. Be. Forgotten.

Oh...and, Nancy, when was it exactly that you decided that keeping "jobs" for your peers and your "TEAM" in power was more important than keeping the Constitution, young soldiers, and Iraqis alive?
Now how about writing a letter to Dennis Kucinich--with facts and figures in place--and let him know why he should get the hell out of the Democrappic Party and go Green or Independent! AND SOON!!!

i don't know what facts and figures you have in mind, but i look forward to seeing
we need to stop talking about beating the Republicans - at least with the Dem leadership's version of candidates (clinton, obama, edwards). Because as far as I can tell, it will be more of the same - no accountability for Bush and Cheney, no end to the Iraq War, no good riddance to the Patriot Act, and no reversal of "Executive Power" (you think they are going to give that up?).
The only way we are going to beat these traitors is to elect a NEW Congress - with people like Cindy, there are a shitload of them running because they are mad.
We need third, fourth, fifth, etc. Political Parties and we must demand that they get the same voice as the current "two" parties. Dump our money into these parties - rally for other Democrats, Republicans who don't agree with their Party anymore to defect.
Also, we need to really encourage Kucinich and Gravel to dump the Democrats - and for Ron Paul to dump the Republicans; their Parties are sabotaging them just as much, if not more,than the MSM. The Parties should be standing up for their candidates and they have failed them. These three candidates would have a much better chance without the Democratic or Republican Party's "support".

Let me guess, they voted themselves a raise?! That methodology of self-raises in a public elected position has got to CEASE AND DESIST! They should go to the American people so raises can be put to a vote by us, THEIR BOSSES.
Congress has it better than any labor union I have ever seen. They vote themselves raises whether they work or not, that is why they never have to strike.
And the Republican Congresspeople claim not to be "communist", yet they have guaranteed government pay, INCLUDING RAISES, for doing nothing. Vhat a country!
Because corporations and the New World order controls most of the two parties.
Progressive democrats need to drop out of the democratic party and join greens, libertarians, populists and others to form a new party called the new american party aka the liberty party.
We have got to take our country before the New World order, Builderbergs, rockfellers and more take over the world for good.

Due Respect?
Nancy Polosi is not deserving of any respect. We should not plead with this women who refuses to do her job. The first step in taking back our country is to get her out of the way. She is a Bogus Democrat, who is one of the Bush team. Everything she has done has been to assist the criminal Bush Administration, and to damage and destroy the Democratic Party. It is just amazing that the Democrats have not figured this out. Impeach Polosi, than Cheney, than Bush.
David and quite a few others here use their words pretty carefully.
On another note, A big welcome to all the new folks on this site! Glad you are here. The times are a changin.

Altering the Constitution still requires a 2/3 vote by Congress, then goes to the States and requires a 2/3 vote in each State. Congress and the States have not yet voted to take the impeachment clauses out of the Constitution, but Speaker Nancy, all by her lonesome, took it "off the table" for her own personal convenience. She wants an easy ride for her 2 year Speaker term, "see no evil, hear no evil", enjoy the ride, and whatever you do, "don't rock the boat". Well, whoever she's Speaker for now, she's certainly not speaking up for mainstream America anymore.
Since Rep. Pelosi seems more responsive to her feelings of fear of the consequences of doing the right thing, rather than to her feelings of satisfaction for doing the right thing, I will appeal to her sense of fear.
Rep. Pelosi, what we will actually face if we DON'T impeach is so much more destabilizing to our democracy, than what you are afraid of facing re your career and the future of the Democratic Party if we DO impeach.
I just read today in a NYT article that Blackwater "released by mistake" CS gas, a riot-control substance, over and inside a Baghdad checkpoint. CS gas is a riot-control substance. The U.S. military is forbidden to use CS gas under the circumstances described in this episode, but private paramilitary forces under contract by our State Department are not.
Got that, Rep. Pelosi? Bush's private paramilitary forces are able to operate outside the regulations that our U.S. military must operate under, even during war and in a war zone. I hope that reading this has caused your jaw to drop. I hope you understand the ramifications of our executive branch controlling their own private paramilitary force that operates outside of Congress and the American people. Kinda reminds you of one of the tools that Hitler and Mussolini had at their disposal, huh? And you guys in the Congress are ALLOWING this to just happen, because you are more concerned that your Democratic buddies might lose their House seats, than you are that Bush and Cheney will use their private paramilitary force to squelch critics of their administration and their policies. That, Rep. Pelosi, is unforgivable. That is just one of the direct lines of logic that leads straight from your unwillingness to impeach to a projected loss of our democracy.
Now, everybody knows that Blackwater has very close ties to the Bush/Cheney White House. Its CEO Erik Prince practically recognizes George W Bush as his Lord and Saviour, and Prince's lobbyists on Capitol Hill just scored for Blackwater, through their crony connections at DHS, a $1 billion taxpayer-financed no-bid contract with terms that include increased deployment of Blackwater troops within U.S. borders.
Wow! Did you know that? You and your Democratic buddies allowed that to happen, too, because you are more afraid of Republican Party operatives attacking you and your buddies as being pro-terrorism, than you are of the Bush/Cheney administration deploying their private paramilitary forces inside America's borders, authorizing their armed agents to use CS gas as a riot-control substance on our own citizens to intimidate critics, anti-war activists, journalists, and anyone else who is NOT afraid to legitimately organize to keep our government in its proper place.
You are a fool, Rep. Pelosi, if you think that it's unreasonable to project that Blackwater’s steroid-enhanced "contractors" will use this same riot-control technique against American citizens exercising our freedom to assemble, especially since the Bush/Cheney administration views criticism as espionage, and dissent as treason. You are nothing but a fool. And this, Rep. Pelosi, is why your constituents are, frankly, so goddamned pissed off at you.
I hope the people who are demonstrating outside your San Francisco residence are not damaging any private property, but I am glad they are there, and I hope they stay there until you finally get it in your political state of mind that your political career means NOTHING compared to the American values we the voters have entrusted you with. I hold out hope that you will soon see the light, recognize the huge leadership mistake you are making, and get back on track toward fighting for our democracy and our Constitution.
Otherwise, the fundamentalist extremists who want our 230-year experiment in representative democracy to disappear from the face of the earth will have won, and you will have been one of their primary instruments.
