Don't do it, Obama

Here are the words of Barack Obama's advisor, Cass Sunstein, at the netroots convention and an outstanding reply from Mikal Hutto

an adviser to Barack Obama from the University of Chicago Law School, cautioned against prosecuting criminal conduct from the current Administration. Prosecuting government officials risks a "cycle" of criminalizing public service, he argued, and Democrats should avoid replicating retributive efforts like the impeachment of President Clinton--or even the "slight appearance" of it.

Maybe someone can explain how the public and Government would be criminalizing public service by prosecuting criminals who have blatantly used their offices to prosecute, persecute, and murder millions of people in the world against the will of the people who pay their salaries and put them in office?

These are the highest "elected" officials in the land. They CHOSE to break the law, ignore the Constitution, lie to those who elected them and pay them, while gleaning profits and allocating more power to Government than any time in American history. They ALL know the American people do not want to continue this war, nor do they want to attack Iran, yet they ignore the people and continue with their crimes, even going so far as to enact legislation that appears to absolve them from all their crimes retroactively.

Just how much will Americans tolerate? Will we sit back and allow Obama to pardon these criminals, therefore setting in motion precedents whereby each President pardons the last, just like Nixon and Ford? There is a HUGE difference between these two crimes. Nixon did NOT perpetrate a war (though he continued one) by deliberately engineering false information to Americans, the UN and the world. Nixon and Ford were BOTH Republicans. It was a set up, and I remember the fury of the people at the time, that Nixon was allowed to resign. However, he DID resign. The Bush Regime refuses to resign, or even admit any wrong doing, and continues to claim Government has a right to go against the will of the people, if Government perceives the people are too DUMB to understand the dangers of the big bad world. Of course, their insistence that all the people's in the WORLD who are against this culture of militaristic "parental" rule and destruction has absolutely nothing to do with most of them being recipients of a transfer of more power and money than has ever transpired in the history of the world. Are we to believe that this transfer of wealth is merely incidental to what has transpired, and not the object of it?

For at least two years, now it has been public knowledge that only around 30 per cent of Americans agree with continuing this machine Bush and Cheney have set into motion. Poll after poll shows that Americans on the whole do not wish to pour every cent they have, and young lives down the drain for the sole purpose of claiming oil, which obviously will be sold to the people at an inflated and even staggering price. Who will benefit from this? Americans? Hardly, just look at our current situation to understand what the future holds if we continue on this destructive path.

Americans SHOULD ask themselves what position we would be in, had we spent just half the amount of money on diplomacy, public relations and humanitarian action in the Middle East. Would we be so worried that these countries are going to team up with China and Russia, therefore cutting us off? Don't our actions ENSURE they will do so? Isn't the current policy perpetrating exactly what this Government claims they are afraid of?

Americans SHOULD ask themselves if they are willing to allow their elected (and appointed) officials to assume the power of a dictator, and decide FOR THEM in matters so serious as war, torture, spying on it's own citizens, becoming a military state, mountainous debt, and the rewriting of our Constitution to allow said officials to legally usurp the power of citizens. Has anyone NOTICED we no longer even speak about "spreading Democracy"? Could it be, that this Government is now aware they can no longer even speak about Democracy with any degree of credibility?

I for one will NOT vote for nor tolerate any official who takes it upon himself (or herself) to pardon people that have cost this country so dearly in lives, resources, respect, and our place as a humanitarian nation in the world.

I truly hope that Obama will ALLOW the people to have a voice in their own Government and decide for themselves what they want to do about these criminals, who have unlawfully occupied the White House for eight long years. They have unlawfully occupied the White House because they are criminals. If he does not at least ALLOW the people to decide for themselves, then he is one of them, and deserves no respect or consideration. He will be part of and a catalyst for making this the RULE not the exception in Government. From now on, you will see each President usurp more and more power, assume citizens are their enemies and treat them as such. Isn't that where we are headed? How can anyone think that this would be a good move. Not only are Americans watching Obama, the WORLD is watching Obama.

"For as in absolute governments the king (President) is law, so in free countries the law ought to be king, and there ought to be no other". - this is what we must work towards...

Bush was appointed President by an act of the Supreme Court making use of the equal protection clause of the Constitution.

If he's going to be unaccountable for his crimes in office, then by an evenhanded application of the equal protection clause, everyone held in U.S. prisons and being prosecuted for criminal charges should also be set free--no questions asked.

Bush was elected President fair and square in 2004 and if he has been involved in any high crimes or misdermeners he can be impeached by congress like Clinton and removed from office not like Clinton. This is the rule of law America follows not the disgruntled whims of a blogger.

I repeat Bush was NOT elected Fair and square............
Now Does that even register at ALL???
