Mondale and Me (More FISA Revelations)
By Cindy Sheehan
I was flying back to the states from Kristiansand, Norway, after receiving an award and was flying on the leg from Oslo to London. The flight's purser pointed out one of my "countrymen" sitting in 2D. I had already been recognized on the flight by the crew because I had won the award and been on Norwegian TV. The purser pointed to seat 2D and told me that it was Walter Mondale.
I looked and did a double take, because he did not look so much like Mondale from about 10 feet away. I was eventually convinced that it was Walter Mondale (Former Senator from Minnesota; Jimmy Carter's VP, Democratic presidential Candidate in 1984 and Ambassador to Japan during the Clinton administration). So being the shrinking violet that I am, I immediately went to introduce myself.
After we established who I was and that he supported "Nancy" even though I was a "wonderful person," he looked at me and said: "Boy wasn't the FISA thing awful?" I said, "Yes, it's awful and my opponent supported it." He returned with: "Oh, I don't think she was really for it." My last question went unanswered: "Well if she was against it, why would she allow it to go to a vote, as Speaker, and then vote for it, as a member?" Note: On many controversial votes, Pelosi often does not vote, on the FISA Act she voted the wrong way.
Our chat was then over because he said: "Nice to meet you, good luck with everything," and looked back down at the paperwork he was reading. I had been dismissed for asking a question that has no reasonable answer. Nancy allowed the Act to come to a vote and voted for it, against the wishes of our liberal district, because SHE WAS FOR RETROACTIVE IMMUNITY. Not only are telecoms some of Pelosi's biggest donors, she has been in on the illegal wiretapping crimes from the beginning. As a member of the Democratic minority leaderhip's "Gang of Four" with Jane Harman (D-CA), Steny Hoyer, (D-MD), Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), not only was the gang briefed on Bush's FISA felonies, they were also briefed on torture. There was and is a rightful outcry on the FISA abuses (if the crimes weren't retroactively legalized, the penalites for breaking FISA laws are steep), but to me, torture is a crime against humanity and, in my opinion, that issue, and lying to a nation about going to war and funding war, are the ones on which the Gang of Four and the Bush Crime Mob should be held accountable.
Ever wonder why "impeachment" has always been inexplicably "off" of Pelosi's table?" Ever wonder why the most criminal and corrupt administration, in this country's long and checkered history that is liberally peppered with corruption and violence, is going to walk away and be allowed to live the rest of their lives in relative comfort and ease? Ever wonder why Pelosi's Congress has an approval rating under double digits? It's because the twin parties of corruption are the "Lawmakers" and the "Lawbreakers." How can Mondale credibly say that Pelosi did not "support" the legislation when she voted "Yea?" Did he mean that it is common for one to sell out his/her constituents and his/her principles when money and crime and punishment are involved?
Walter Mondale (a man whom I voted for three times) has been a political insider for generations and would not even broach the subject of accountability with me. Ever wonder why the system was allowed to decay so far that it appears that only a miracle can save it now from total socio-economic destruction?
This nation is in dire straits partially because of blind allegiance to a two-party monopoly (I used to say "duopoly," but what's the use?) that only exists to perpetuate itself and the unscrupulous system that supports it. That system built of popsicle sticks and set on a shaky foundation will soon go the way of all Empires unless our "leadership" becomes more responsive to the people's needs and less concerned with their bank accounts and personal power trips.
"Change" will not come from inside the monopoly. How much more proof do we need?
Vote for true change.
Vote for Cindy.

It's very interesting to hear how Mondale reacted to the FISA vote, and to see him spontaneously bring it up himself. I don't suppose he made any effort to lobby Pelosi (or Hoyer or Rockefeller) against it when it mattered, though. Blind party loyalty trumps national principles every time for these self-justifying, self-serving rationalizers.
I wanted to be sure that Cindy knows that a reporter actually brought up her candidacy during Pelosi's weekly news conference last Thursday, and asked Pelosi if she would agree to debate Cindy. After issuing a throwaway compliment or two in Cindy's direction, Pelosi did more or less imply that she was open to a debate or debates this fall (presumably if someone else did all the work of arranging it and she was publicly pressured to show up).
That Pelosi press conference (on 9/11) can be seen here:

...that he said what he said because of the others around you listening, and that when you refused to accept his nonsense platitude about how she was "agianst" FISA (because everyone else is against it), like is often the case, he couldn't allow any more bad PR for "the party" by continuing the chat.
That's what they all do now; they throw out the simplistic catch-phrase to see if you will bite, and then if you don't, they dismiss you as quick as possible.
What's funny about this, is that if you had just regurgitated all the lefty talking-points, like so many of our "progressive" websites do these days, then he would probably have asked you to join him for the rest of the flight, and he would be indorcing your candidacy today.
These body-snatchers can tell very quickly if we are in their "club" or not, and when they determine you aren't, it's like you were never born to them.
Good thing you're not a Judge. Your argument has holes in it and has a distinctly biased view of all things "lefty". When you use rhetoric like that you give away your disdain for "progressive" values. I read blogs all over the blogosphere daily and that's exactly how Rethug trolls talk. If you don't think there's a difference in basic philosophy between the party's, then it's obvious your delusional. Another clue to your leanings? Your idiotic spelling (always a clue to smug, ignorant republicans). You're not here to help, you're here to vent. I'm an independent voter (I was pulling for Ron Paul (and with the economy slipping away, I bet a lot of people are now looking at him in a new light)), but 99.99% of the time I vote Democrat. Why? They're human beings about life. Not selfish, racist bastards. Now, I've known about Nancy's complicity for a long while (I've been banned from blogs for suggesting impeaching her), and would love to see her impeached NEXT year, but I do believe the mad men in office have a gun to her head. They have something on her. Instead of supporting Cindy in her race, or telling us how your going to be knocking on a million doors for peace, we get to hear how much you hate Democrats. Please, you got to be less obvious if you're trying out your troll legs. (I can smell you guys a mile off).
A note on Dr. Ron Paul: people scoff about his "free market" approach to the economy. That's economist's that have got us here, in varying degrees, but if you studied his total philosophy, you'd know that it's sound. He never said it'd be a rose garden, in fact he's said it'd be painful. Any type of opiate addiction is. It took a long time to get here, and it wouldn't solve the problem overnight, but it WOULD keep the economy on a even keel from now on. Now more cycles of printing worthless money to counteract bad times. You don't give a junkie more heroin to cure them. People don't want to deal with that hard truth, hence the Fed's lies and funny money.
Mondale is a nice man. Maybe he just didn't want to talk. Maybe he didn't want to argue or explain, maybe he just wanted to be left alone. Not everyone wants to debate on airplanes. He's old, he was probably tired. I can't make the stretch that he is part of some giant conspiracy to do everything for the Democratic party at the expense of the truth. He stepped in to run against Norm Coleman in 2002 not for the Party but for Paul Wellstone, who had just been murdered. Mondale has always been one of the most deeply moral people in the U.s. government, as was Wellstone, and to make assumptions about him because he didn't want to talk or argue is really kind of presumptuous.
Face to face, eye to eye...guess who blinked? I guess the old guard no longer understands the moral strength of "We the People".
Mondale knows exactly who Ms Sheehan is and failure to respect her high moral ground position discloses an utter lack of empathy, moral character or conviction.
I dont care who Mondale "was"...what matters is who he is now. The call for patriots to stand up for the Constitution has been made wide and clear. Failure to embrase the tenants set forth by the Founding Fathers amounts to weak-kneed capitulation. Defenders of the Constitution will no longer give a pass based on pre-Reagan activities. Now is the time to stand up - Mondale sat down.
The ruse the two colluding criminal parties have used to wreck our nation is a pretty simple one. They throw the terms "bipartisan" and "compromise" around as if they are the Holy Grails of fairness and justice. But NOTHING could be further from the truth.
Compromise has its place in making policy, but when it comes to the basic principles of our Constitution and International Law, compromise should be "off the table." Principles are "non-negotiable."
The fallacy of "bipartisan" solutions to the Bush Gang's atrocities, put forth by Nancy Pelosi and Obama's Cass Sunstein, should be obvious. Is there anyone alive who believes Nuremberg should have been a "bargaining table?"
We became a great country due to our principles, and have fallen from grace as we have strayed from them. If our nation is ever to regain a sense of decency, there is a single imperative MUST: When our principles are obscenely distorted, we MUST recognize the criminals to be reviled are not only those who have done the bending, but the colluders who suggest a "compromise."
...all the time, and I don't need any more proof. I think this thing is as evil as anything ever was, but it's got control of everything that it needs to keep it going
It's got the media
It's got the courts
It's got the streets (up to now, anyway)
It's got the voting machines
So I wonder how our voting will change anything, or our demonstrating, or our filing suits, or our writing to editors
But what this thing does need from us is our money and our blood, so it seems to me, if we're going to go for "true change", it has to get down to our going for non-cooperation
I don't need much money, so I don't make much or spend much
I bled for them once, but I won't do it again
But, if I lived in the Bay Area, I'd vote for you anyway, Cindy. Good luck with everything
R Ap
can you just imagine the utter fear in congress if Pelosi was replaced by Cindy, I for one hope she is defeated in November. The only thing the liars in congress fear is losing their power & meal ticket which they steal from us . Not one of them realize the offices they occupy belong to "We the People".
...that a government "position" is about supposed to be about SERVICE and not a career path like a CEO! Where the fuck is the screaming for term limits?! Down with the gawd dammed high pensions and FREE damn near everything too. Sometimes I get so sick of all this bull shite I could pull the plug on this computer like I did my T.V. seven years ago and build a tree house in Swahili land!!!

Mondale implies that he did not back the new FISA provisions that essentially allow warrantless wiretapping of American citizens and provide retroactive immunity for some Telecoms. Good! Then why did Nancy Pelosi vote in favor of this odious law? I have personally stopped financially supporting Barak Obama due to his yes vote in this matter. He’ll do ok anyway, I’m sure. The money and support that I would have give to Obama had he stood up for my constitutional right to privacy, now goes to Cindy. Thanks for the post, Cindy.
For the last 3 months I have been thinking that the real reason that Pelosi doesn't want impeachment is that it might involve some democrats, including herself. I'd sure like to see some judicial expert and journalist investigate this possibility.
Too bad I can't vote for Cindy since I don't live in SF.
