Dear Hollis,
Thank you for contacting me and sharing your thoughts about the impeachment of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney. I share the outrage that so many Vermonters have expressed over the disastrous policies of this president and his administration. While I believe that impeachment is not the appropriate remedy, I share the goal of restoring accountability to our government.
In the 110th Congress, our oversight investigations, among other actions, have exposed the egregiously substandard care for recovering soldiers at Walter Reed, documented unacceptable accounts of political interference by the Bush Administration over sound global warming science, and uncovered waste, fraud, and abuse associated with the war in Iraq on an unimaginable scale.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts on impeachment. Although we may disagree on this issue, I hope that you will continue to be in touch on matters important to you.

Get off of Bush's ASS
An Impeachment hearing will give him the opportunity, under oath, to proove to us what he has done was correct. Man, if I were innocent I sure as hell would want to leave an unquestionable legacy. Are you guys in congress lazy or something?

Peter, we'll follow you, and we'll ask the 110th Dem Congress to join in, lets play catch the tail. We will probably get dizzy trying to catch it, but since you believe you can restore accountability to our government WITHOUT accountability you are never going to catch your tail, not even in the 111th Dem Congress. Aren't you tired of this silly ole game by now? How does Congressman Peter Welch propose to "restore accountability to our Government" if he isn't willing to hold people accountable for "egregiously substandard care for recovering soldiers at Walter Reed, documented unacceptable accounts of political interference by the Bush Administration over sound global warming science, and uncovered waste, fraud, and abuse associated with the war in Iraq on an unimaginable scale"?
"Egregious substandard care" implies care beyond being acceptable. Who's to be held to account for this?
"Political interference" implies unethical behavior. Who's to be held accountable within the Administration?
"Uncovered waste" implies a certain knowledge that Peter Welch is aware of the waste, itself.
"Fraud" itself, is criminal. WHO'S BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE?
"Abuses associated on an unimaginable scale" implies an overwhelming amount has amassed. WHY NO CONSEQUENCES LEVERAGED?
There is one word that can describe a CONgress critter like this...
... COWARD!
The obvious followup letter should simply ask:
How does Congressman Peter Welch intend to "restore accountability" if he is unwilling to exorcise consequential outcomes for seemingly criminal acts? How does Mr. Welch intend to cross that line of restoration if he is not willing to step up to that start line and run that race?
