Witnesses to the scene called in the story to us. It went sort of like this (see here for pictures).
"The time to lay down is right now. Those who are willing to be
arrested will not get up. Others will get up and will observe the
scene.

has layed down as has Cindy, Ann Wright, Gail, and others from Code
Pink and the World Can Not Wait Organization. Now the police are
beginning to arrest people.
Some people are sitting by the wagon waiting to be processed. In
the meantime, we are singing songs like "God Bless America" and "This
Land is My Land".
David has just been arrested. He is waiting to be
processed. In the meantime, they have just put the cuffs on Ann
Wright. People are calling out encouragement."
And I, as a phone observer, have heard shouts of "Go Ann" ect...
In the meantime, the Pro-war counter protestors are shouting, "Give war
a chance!" From what I'm told there are 15-20 verbally abusive
pro-war supporters out there, but there are at least 200 Peace
Supporters at the vigil and possibly 20-50 people participating in the
civil disobediance.
At this point, everyone has been processed and the people at the vigil are leaving.
They will return tomorrow.

Like the reality that this is an UNWINNABLE CONFLICT, specifically designed to be so by the Bush war mongers, solely to feed the insatiable military industrial complex (that means "the big business of war" for you extra-ignorant Bush boot licking morons) that Dwight Eisenhower warned us about more than 40 years ago.
Like the reality that the entire CIA leak investigation is the result of the bogus Bush claim that Iraq was trying to purchase uranium from Niger (the documents purporting to show the deal are proven forgeries), and that they pursued the defamation of Joe Wilson and his wife with such vigor because Wilson used the truth to prove the Bush lie that was such an integral selling point of his bogus war.
Like the reality that four years after 9/11 Osama Bin Laden is still free.
Like the reality that in the days immediately following 9/11 Bush said he wanted Osama dead or alive and then six months later said he was not concerned about him. What do you suppose is the reason for this complete about face? Couldn't be that he was already focused on making the phony case for the invasion of Iraq, could it?

The forged documents that purport to show a uranium deal between Iraq and Niger are not a conspiracy theory Richie. They are proven fakes. It took the IAEA all of about 5 minutes to figure that one out. The officials named in the documents had long since left office (something like 10-11 years prior), and their "signatures" were forged. And the Bush administration admitted after the 2003 State of the Union speech (where bush made the famous uranium claim, even though his own CIA was telling him it could not be substatiated) that they could not prove the uranium claim. This is also a FACT, old buddy. Not a theory.
Now I realize it might be difficult for your little piss ant mind to follow along, but give it a shot:

Yes. Unwinnable. As long as Americans occupy Iraq, there will be no shortage of insurgents willing to blow themselves up, taking as many US troops and innocent Iraqis as possible with them. There are some terrorists that have crossed borders to take advantage of the chaos, but the majority of violence comes from home grown Iraqi insurgents.

The new Iraqi constitution will have zero effect on the violence. That constitution, by the way, is based on religion, not the rule of law. Looks more like an Iran style theocracy.

Are you saying that the fact that we are still in post WWII countries to this day justifies our being in Iraq? Even though Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 (which Bush himself admitted on September 17th, 2003) and represented no threat to us whatsoever?

That whole ANTHRAX scare was a ridiculous and transparent joke!! And I "knew it in my bones" at the time I was watching the news reports of it after 9-11.
It only lasted in the media as long as it served the purpose of frightening people and providing a dramatic thread to prop up the "War on Terror".

About two years ago I came across a website (I believe it was Dutch based) that had extensively researched information about the long development of a world-wide criminal syndicate that would work its way into power through "legitimate" government channels. I have since lost the link. But, at the time I thought it was getting into too much "conspiracy theory" for my taste.

It is looking quite plausible these days and I'm sure current events are "attached at roots" that extend back in time farther than we even imagine at this point. Sins of the fathers are handed down to the sons.

Back before BushCo took office, I left the Democratic Party in frustration over their support of the so called, "Drug War" (which I feel is nothing more than more NEOCON Fascism directed at liberals and minorities. I worked at Research Triangle Institute when the famous Reagan "Drug Study" was done . . talk about BS "science.")
Anyway . . .
In North Carolina, the only third party that was against this madness of "Prohibition II" and had achieved full party-status was the Libertarian Party.
So, my wife and I joined and quickly rose up through the ranks.
When the war started, I was County Chair, on the NC Executive Committee, and was a delegate to the National Convention. I had run for a NC House seat and lost, while my wife had won a seat at the County level on the Soil & Water board.
When the war started, I was amazed that this "Give War A Chance" slogan became a battle cry for the NEOCON Fundamentalists within the Libertarian Party here (NC) to justify the actions of BushCo. When my wife and I challenged this based on the "Non-violence" pledge of the Libertarian Party, we quickly became "liberal hippie scapegoats" that "supported the Terrorists." We finally got tired of being "wrong" all the time at every meeting and the targets of much verbal/e-mail abuse, so we resigned our posts and left the party.
I guess we just didn't want to play with any group that would debase the works of John Lennon in such a manner. Some kidz just don't "get it." ;-)

I should not be amazed by the ignorance some of our people display, but, that ignorance still amazes me somehow. The ones who cry about the liberals supporting a womens right to choose and whine about the anti war protesters. But the ignorance here is that they are the ones in support of killing innocent live human beings in wars, but also in support of protecting the unborn fetus. Help me figure this one out. So is it that the unborn is of more importance than that of the living?
