Camp Is Gone, But Not For Long
By Cindy Sheehan
Well, our great experiment didn’t go as well as we planned here in DC. My vision was a Peace Camp that would serve the needs of the campers as far as housing and food were concerned (that part worked) and the campers would then commit aggressive acts of civil resistance (that part didn’t) in the nation’s capital to shut down the violent military-corporate empire that we live in. In the opinion of members of Peace of the Action, living here in the US gives us special responsibilities for stopping it.
Anyway, we had hundreds of people come through camp over the week that we were allowed to keep it up. Dozens were college students that worked very hard while they were here and we were sorry to see them go back to their schools after break. The thing that we were hoping that would happen and never did—was that hundreds of people would stay and help us claim the camp as a permanent presence on the mall.
It’s true that the Park Police thwarted us and watched (and photographed) every move we made. However, if we had the numbers, we could have taken a more credible stand against the repression of our rights. When the Park Police came out and shut down camping on the first day—part of our name “Camp” was shut down, too. Read more.

Right now, at this moment in time I have a deep abiding sense of shame in the so called left, so called progressive movement in this country.
Cindy says that IF we had the numbers. So we must ask WHY she did not have the numbers. Whenn, the very next day there was an Immigrants Rights March that attracted at least 100,000.. Oh wait, yes of course. The Immigrants Rights Rally (some thing that I feel sure Cindy and the others there believe in) had
BARACK OBOMBER speaking via teleconference. along with, wait for it
DEMOCRAT MEMBERS OF CONGRESS speaking.
That is right. Cindy Sheehann and her actions have EXPOSED the Democrats for the war supporting war criminals for what they are.. she has also exposed the so called peace movement.
Cindy Sheehan speaks for me. This incident has caused me to look around at so called "progreessive' allies and question.
Just as Democrats should be judged not by what they say but by their actions, so too we should analyze "progressives."
I use the King quote at the end of my posts. this one is another, equally relevant for this conversation.
“In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because concience tells one it is right.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
for what's right requires a little effort. Not a lot mind you, but enough to tell this government, and all those corrupt individuals, as well as the elected officials who support the rampaid corruption we have today, we won't allow you to continue to run this country into the ground.
It's real people, everyone needs to wake up now. The destruction of this country is in full operation today.
The haves are trying to force the have nots completely out.
And "We the People" keep sending the same old corrupt officials right back to Washington at every election. These elected officials "DO NOT REPRESENT THE PEOPLE". They have been bought by Wall Street, and Corporate America, "TO SUPPORT WALL STREET AND CORPORATE AGENDAS.
What will it finally take to get the people of the United States to open their eyes and actually see FOR THEMSELVES what has happened thus far, and the direction our so-called leaders are taking us to.
It's not the Democrats, or the Republicans who we can blame. IT'S ALL OF THEM. Even our one last hope for representation, Dennis Kucinich finally folded and joined the establishment's agenda to by-pass "We the People" in all government matters. Before long, our only input to how our government functions will be down to only two things: continue voting for the corrupt officials so they can continue on their goal of total destruction of the United States, and its Constitution, and secondly paying for the destruction agenda.
All it will really take is simply stop bitchin, whining, watching this destruction happen, and go to the next election booth in your area and simply, STOP voting for these corrupt individuals. That is our last remaining hope of regaining our Country and it's Constitution.
The longer that "We the People" WAIT, the more destruction we get, the harder it will be to win our Country back.
Please help America, I certainly intend too.
