Another FBI Infiltrator of Peace Groups Exposed

The anti-war and international solidarity activists who are being called before a grand jury in Chicago have learned that beginning a few months before the protests against the Republican National Convention in the 2008 in St. Paul, Minnesota, a law enforcement officer infiltrated the Twin Cities Anti-War Committee (AWC). The infiltrator went by the name Karen Sullivan, joined the AWC in April 2008, and about a year later she joined the Freedom Road Socialist Organization.

Misty Rowan, of the Anti-War Committee, said, "The AWC played an important role in organizing the permitted march on the Republican National Convention on September 1, 2008, and also organized a rally and march on the fourth day of the convention. We can only assume that this First Amendment protected organizing was the reason that this agent, Karen Sullivan, infiltrated the AWC. It is the same kind of infiltration criticized in the October 2010 inspector general report and highlighted in the recent release of documents from the Richmond, Virginia, police, where any sort of assembly is defined as a disturbance and threat."

Roots of Arizona's Violence

Roots of Arizona's Violence - by Stephen Lendman

As expected, America's major media won't explain it. Nation magazine editor Katrina vanden Heuvel ducked the issue, saying it's "a time for grief, not grievance." Blaming a "crazed act of a clearly unstable man," she called it "an assassination of democracy....shut(ting) down speech to slay those seeking its exercise," then added "we still don't know whether (violent rhetoric) was responsible for last weekend's horror."

A Wall Street Journal "Murder in Tucson" editorial deflected blame from hard right extremists, and rejected political reasons for the attack, saying:

"....Loughner is a mentally disturbed man who targeted Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and anyone near here....because she was prominent and they were tragically accessible....Whatever confused political motives he expressed seem merely to be part of the maelstrom of his mental sickness."

COLUMBIA JOURNALISM SCHOOL STAFF STATES THAT WIKILEAKS PROSECUTION "WILL SET A DANGEROUS PRECEDENT"

By Jim Romenesko
From Poynter | Original Article

Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism faculty and officers tell President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder that “while we hold varying opinions of Wikileaks’ methods and decisions, we all believe that in publishing diplomatic cables Wikileaks is engaging in journalistic activity protected by the First Amendment” and that “as a historical matter, government overreaction to publication of leaked material in the press has always been more damaging to American democracy than the leaks themselves.”

They're 'Slow Torturing' Bradley Manning Right Under Our Noses

By John Grant

On December 18, David House, an MIT researcher, visited Bradley Manning at the Quantico, Virginia, military prison where he is being held in solitary confinement. Other than Manning’s attorney, House is the rare person allowed to visit him.

House’s report is quite thorough in pointing out instances where the military authorities are lying -- or to use philosopher Harry Frankfurt’s formulation, “bullshitting” -- about how the 23-year-old Army intelligence worker is being treated.

Here’s some of psychologist Dr. Jeffrey Kaye’s comment on House’s report:

Japans Investigation into Iraq War

Japanese Politician Wants to Accelerate Investigation into Iraq War

December 24, 2010 - TOKYO- (PanOrient News) A group of lawmakers from all of Japan's political parties – with the notable exception of the conservative Liberal Democratic Party and its former government allies New Komeito – have established a committee to investigate Japan's involvement in the Iraq War and is asking the government of Prime Minister Naoto Kan to "accelerate the investigation progress."

Tsuyoshi Saito, the chairman of the committee and a member of the House of Representatives for the ruling Democratic Party of Japan, told PanOrient News that his group submitted numerous requests to the government earlier this month after it had held its first formal meeting.

December 24, 1992 - President George Herbert Walker Bush pardoned six Reagan administration appointees in the Iran-Contra case, among them former Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger, and Robert McFarlane, the President’s former national security advisor.

He did so with less than one month to go in his presidency, and one week before Weinberger’s trial on four felony charges was to begin.

These people and others were responsible for selling arms to the revolutionary government of Iran in hope of the release of hostages held in Lebanon, despite then-Pres. Ronald Reagan’s repeated pledge not to negotiate with hostage-takers.

HANDS OFF WIKILEAKS! PROSECUTE WAR CRIMES, NOT THOSE WHO LEAK THEM

STATEMENT BY WORLD CANT WAIT

Wikileaks Published Nothing But the Truth About Your Government
“The truth is in your hands now.”
-Julian Assange, Founder of Wikileaks

Over the past months, hundreds of thousands of confirmed U.S. military and State Department documents and video have been published on the internet by Wikileaks, a not-for-profit media organization, under the headings Collateral Murder, Afghan War Diary, Iraq War Logs, and Cablegate.

Both victims and opponents of the U.S. wars and occupations, and innumerable others who value and demand freedom of the press, freedom of speech, welcome and support the publication of the classified documents by Wikileaks and other media outlets such as The Guardian and The New York Times, which are also publishing the Cablegate documents.

US TRIES TO BUILD A CASE FOR CONSPIRACY BY WIKILEAKS

From The New York Times | Original Article

WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors, seeking to build a case against the WikiLeaks leader Julian Assange for his role in a huge dissemination of classified government documents, are looking for evidence of any collusion in his early contacts with an Army intelligence analyst suspected of leaking the information.

Justice Department officials are trying to find out whether Mr. Assange encouraged or even helped the analyst, Pfc. Bradley Manning, to extract classified military and State Department files from a government computer system. If he did so, they believe they could charge him as a conspirator in the leak, not just as a passive recipient of the documents who then published them.

U.S. Renditions Program: Sentences in CIA Grab

Italy adds to Americans' sentences in CIA grab

December 16 2010 - An Italian appeals court Wednesday increased the sentences against 23 Americans convicted in the kidnapping of an Egyptian terror suspect involved in the CIA's extraordinary renditions program.

In upholding the convictions, the court added one year to the eight-year term handed down to former Milan CIA station chief Robert Seldon Lady and two years onto the five-year terms given to 22 other Americans convicted along with him, defense lawyers said.

They were never in Italian custody and were tried and convicted in absentia. But they risk arrest if they travel to Europe as long as the convictions stand. {continued}

Afghan conditions worst in 30 years

Red Cross says Afghan conditions worst in 30 years

Dec 15, 2010 - Spreading violence in Afghanistan is preventing aid organizations from providing help, with access to those in need at its worst level in three decades, the Red Cross said on Wednesday.

"The proliferation of armed groups threatens the ability of humanitarian organizations to access those in need. Access for the ICRC has over the last 30 years never been as poor," said Reto Stocker, Afghanistan head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which rarely makes public comments.

Sex, Espionage, Bail, and Oh Yeah: War Crimes

If the U.S. press corpse ever lets up on the let's-lynch-the-whistleblower angle, here are some leads it could start looking into on the what's-this-all-about angle (via The Guardian):

The British government promised to protect US interests during the Chilcot inquiry into the Iraq war.

• The president of Yemen secretly offered US forces unrestricted access to his territory to conduct unilateral strikes against al-Qaida terrorist targets [and anyone nearby].

Saudi Arabia put pressure on the US to attack Iran. Other Arab allies also secretly agitated for military action against Tehran.

WAR. WIKILEAKS. PROTEST: WHY NEW EVIDENCE DEMANDS END TO WARS

While only a tiny fraction of the U.S. diplomatic cables scheduled for publication by Wikileaks have thus far been made available, some conclusions can already be drawn. These cables and the Iraq and Afghan War Diaries provide an opportunity for Americans to see our government for what it is.

Our government is seen here as controlling a global military and espionage empire that impacts every region of the globe and deceives its own population. Secrecy, spying, and hostility have infected our entire government, turning the diplomatic corps into an arm of the CIA and the military, just as the civilian efforts in Afghanistan are described by Richard Holbrooke, who heads them up, as "support for the military." Secret war planning, secret wars, and lies about wars have become routine.

US RESPONSE TO WIKILEAKS: DIPLOMACY AS ANOTHER MEANS OF WARFARE

By Debra Sweet

From World Can't Wait | Original Article

World Can't Wait has put a big part of our efforts in 2010 to promoting the revelations brought forth by wikileaks.ch (note url change) as a means of exposing the illegitimate US occupations of Iraq & Afghanistan. The latest "Cablegate" release is so important in understanding how the US uses diplomacy as a means of global domination, that the wrath of the US and all its allies has come down on Julian Assange & Wikileaks.

Brit Iraq War Inquiry: Recalling Witnesses

Tony Blair To Appear Before Iraq War Inquiry Commission

12/8/2010 - The independent commission probing the reasons for Britain joining the Iraq war announced Wednesday that it has asked former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to appear before the panel for a second time to give additional evidence.

Blair, who was the Prime Minister when Britain joined the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, is one among several witnesses summoned to reappear before the Chilcot committee. Those recalled include former Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and former chief of defense staff Admiral Michael Boyce.

Obama's Grand Betrayal

Michael Collins

Previously, I reported the startling news - Obama to Change Party. That was satire, at least on November 14. Just three weeks later, satire becomes reality. In the past few days, President Obama has traded away $620 billion in tax revenues in order to get a $56 billion, 13 month extension of unemployment benefits. Of course, the lost $620 billion will make any further unemployment benefits, or for that matter, any other productive social programs pipe dreams as the deficit explodes over the next two years. The Asymmetrical Info War

It's too bad all this didn't start during the previous administration, there are so many questions and just think of the added proof as to the War Crimes and much more we would have!! Though in this country we don't do Accountability and allow our extremely wealthy walk around free with the blood wealth they gained, and we don't even tax them nor their corporations!!
