Ride for Peace.

BLOOMINGTON, IL -- About a dozen anti-war veterans will pedal across Illinois on old Route 66 next week to stress the role they say bicycles can play to end the war in Iraq by reducing American dependence on foreign oil.

The Ride for Peace will visit Pontiac on Wednesday (Aug. 8), Bloomington on Aug. 9 and Lincoln on Aug. 10 as cyclists travel 400 miles from the 40th anniversary convention of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War in Chicago to the Veterans for Peace convention in St. Louis. A similar ride stretched from Eugene, Ore., to Seattle last year.

A young Army Ranger, Tommy Murphy, whose parents are friends of mine, needs our help.  After three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan he returned to Ft. Lewis, Washington, where one evening he lost it, due to suffering from PTSD, and took some guns from a fellow soldier's car.  For some reason the Army is going after him with a vengance.  Tommy's first trial ended in a mistrial because of gross misconduct on the part of the prosecutor (the same person who prosecuted Lt. Watada) and because of perjury committed by the Army psychiatrist.  Tommy's civilian lawyer has withdrawn from the case because the parents simply don't have any more money to pay him - they have gone through their life savings.  They now need to hire a lawyer for the upcoming second trial.  Please visit the website - Save One Soldier.  I know that any help or support you can provide would be very much appreciated by Tommy and his parents.

All pressure is good pressure. I know cabinet officers aren’t general considered amenable to citizen kivetching, but let’s try anyway. We don’t have much to lose, And maybe if a few of them get it into their head somebocy other than Dick Cheney is watching them; there might be a bit less Bushshit going down.

On Wednesday, July 25, between 11:00am and 1:00pm, concerned citizens organized by The Impeachment Coalition of Dane County and Impeachforpeace.org of Wisconsin will gather in front of the Capitol at 728 State Street. Demonstrators will make a powerful visual statement that will bring home the ongoing, heinous acts of torture inflicted on thousands of human beings throughout the world in the name of Americans.

And we want more. New - slightly used - old - it doesn't matter. We want to prove our majority so we are mobilizing petitions.

I listened in for about 25 minutes waiting my turn to ask a question. But I found this to be disturbing and had trouble sleeping last night.

I waited patiently for my turn. There was the Vietnam War veteran who was vehemently opposed to Davis' support of the war as it is. As we all learned from Vietnam victory was denied by the politicians. So if he would just let us bomb Syria and Iran we would be on our way to victory.

The People Of Madison Refuse To Be Bystanders To Torture; We Must Impeach The Perpetrators

The Madison Impeachment Coalition and Impeachforpeace.org of Wisconsin are staging a Street Theatre Event Focusing on Torture and Impeachment.

This three day event will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 23, 24, and 25 between 11:00am and 1:00pm. in front of the Madison Memorial Library located at 728 State Street.

FORT LEWIS -- The second court-martial of 1st Lt. Ehren Watada, a Fort Lewis
U.S. Army officer who refused to go to Iraq with his unit a year ago, has
been rescheduled to Tues. Oct. 9. (day after Columbus Day)

Watada's trial, originally slated to begin next Monday, was postponed at the
request of government and defense lawyers. His first trial earlier this year
ended in a mistrial. If convicted, Watada faces a maximum of six years in
prison and a dishonorable discharge

What I experienced

I’m glad to say that I heard a lot about impeachment at the Veterans for Peace Regional Retreat (also called Pigstock 2007) 14 July 2007 held at Pig Wisdom Farm outside of Hager City, Wisconsin. What I didn’t see was a lot of support for impeachment. Only 6 of the 54 cars parked in the lot Saturday morning had impeachment bumper stickers. Only a handful of people spoke with me after my 3 minute speech. I only sold 4 We the People IMPEACH t-shirts (at the low, low price of $10). While I sold 100 ImpeachForPeace bumper stickers at the bulk price of $5 for 50 - only 2 buyers. (I hope those 4+2 weren’t the same as the 6 out of 54.)

It's been eighty-six (86) days since H. Res. 333 was introduced. Where is the justice in the Judiciary Committee?

Now We Know How the Colonists Felt

Maybe we know how the colonist felt; but many of us, evidently, still haven't read the Constitution of the United States.

Dr. Wilmer Leon knows many things. I think Dr. Leon has his heart in the right place. Dr. Leon made many erudite observations in his recent article; but, Dr. Leon is wrong about what oath George Bush swore on Inaugural Day 2001 and 2005.
